Love & Other Chairs

For writer Luke Kondor, getting this script into production has been something he's been looking to do for a good while. "I've been a little bit obsessed with the idea of people turning into chairs for a while now, and I don't think I'm going to be free of it until I see it come together as a finished piece on the screen. The themes resonate quite strongly with me, and I feel like it's a concept that people can enjoy and hopefully get a lot of."

This is a passion project for all involved with the film's influences stemming from the surreal and abstract work of people like David Lynch, Charlie Kaufman, Andrew Kaufman & Etgar Keret. The film will be directed by YSP Media's Christopher Bevan will direct the project and will collaborate with the team's Director of Photography Karl Poyzer. Christopher and Karl have worked on several short films over the last few years as part of YSP Media, constantly striving to push the bar higher as filmmakers. Our recent short film Caught in the Headlights, successfully funded last year here on IndieGoGo, went on to win and receive nominations at several film festivals across the country and we hope that the success of this film will help galvanise support for our next endeavour.

We feel that the twisted and unusually comic nature of Love & Other Chairs creates so many opportunities for a memorable film and we're looking forward to telling this story. Julian's bizarre unravelling as he loses his wife to the form of a chair is such an eye catching idea and the script Luke has developed is brilliant at showing not just the darkly humourous concept, but also the heartache Julian goes through. It's a double edged sword and we'd like you to help us develop this project into a fully realised film.

Love & Other Chairs is one of our many projects currently in development and is part of our aim to connect with exciting new writers to help bring funny, intriguing and heart warming stories to the screen. After a successful past year with 5 shorts produced, we're looking to step things up again this year by producing a film that is at once unique, surreal and touching.

Starring in the lead role as Julian is Mark Drake, a versatile actor with much acclaim and experience of playing a broad range of roles in film, television and theatre. Further roles in 'Love & Other Chairs' are due to be cast in the coming weeks with auditions for other roles in the film due to be announced soon.
