England! Sweet, Sweet Merry Old England! Land of Hope and Glory!
There was a time when a patriotic backbone came as standard; when the stiff upper lip was a second nature! Herein lies a tale befitting the most stalwart and brave heroes of that most belligerent age, a duo so bold and stock full of derring-do that time has dared to forget them - until now...
Rupert “Lionhead” Duke, a pompous, arrogant captain, is marooned on an island with his last loyal mate and lifelong companion, John “Rapier” Jones. In a tale spun during the fading days of Victoria’s Empire, they must seek shelter as they wait for a tempestuous storm to pass, in doing so stumbling across a cocophany of characters even stranger than the island they’ve found themselves beached upon.
But what will kill them first? The twisted mad Taxidermist who offers them shelter? The islands cannibal lepers perhaps? Or will they rip each other apart as their loyalties are stretched to their absolute edge.
A farcical adventure comedy, the story and style lend from The Tempest, Withnail & I, Dad’s Army, The Crimson Permanent Assurance, Papillon and Zulu Dawn.
The ImpactThis is our graduation film, and boy have we made our lives difficult. There's a real sense of scale in this project, which doesn't come cheap. We've already raised the vast majority of our funds, all we need now is the last little bit to tip us over the edge and really up the ante.
What We Need & What You GetYour contribution would go towards one of two things -
We're shooting the film with a RED camera, a high end digital cinema camera that's going to sap a whole lot of the budget. This is by far the single most expensive item involved and will make the world of difference to how the final film will look.
The rest of the funds are to go on set decoration and costume. We're wanting to dress our custom built set with all kinds of victoriana and curio, creating a dense and weird atmosphere for our villains to inhabit. If we raise the full amount, we'll be able to create a really interesting interior for our cast to play around in.
