Liminality is a coming of age comedy/drama which follows an ensemble of interconnected twentysomethings, each experiencing a quarter-life crisis, as they cross paths in the city of London throughout one day.
The movie combines the raw candid honesty of the mumblecore movement (Tiny Furniture, Hannah Takes the Stairs) and an “in the moment” cinematic style (This Movie is Broken) with the classic day-in-the-life ensemble story (Dazed and Confused, Magnolia) to create an original and provocative character study.
Liminality is a story about twentysomething life, based on a decade of research, experience, and eavesdropping. A few years of character and story development culminated in an original screenplay written by Nick Scott and Darryl Callcott. Filming is scheduled to begin August 24, 2013 in London, ON, Canada with Danny Dunlop shooting the feature on the RED ONE.
WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET
The funds we raise through our Indiegogo campaign are to cover the costs of principal photography.
Although the cast and crew are generously volunteering their time (and some are donating their own hight end film gear) to make the movie, we still have quite a few expenses to cover. We have set our budget at $5000 to cover the minimum costs of production, including insurance, craft services, travel, hair / wardrobe / makup, additional sound and camera equipment rentals, and fees.
We've set up some unique perks to thank you for your financial contribution to the film. The campaign will run for one month starting July 9th. It is a fixed funding campaign, which means if we don't hit our goal you'll get your money back. But that also means we won't have money to make the movie...
We've come a long way to prepare Liminality for production, with many creative and supportive people working hard to get this project off the ground. With support from the community and social media followers, we can reach our goal!
We'll be posting many exciting behind the scenes updates on Facebook and Twitter (#makingofliminality) as we spend eight days filming around the city of London. You can also follow along with the production on Instagram.
Liminality is a movie targeted to viewers in their late teens to early thirties. The themes in the story reflect the challenges and obstacles many twentysomethings can relate to. With that in mind we've started a board on Pinterest to share some compelling and humourous articles and media about life, work, love, and all the little things about being twentysomething (#thattwentysomethinglife).
