The campaign has taken a fabulous new direction! As we enter the final days we are proud to announce that any further funds recieved through this campaign will be utilized in the production of a fantastic fundraiser fashion show and auction on June 28th in Seattle! The show, entitled BeDecked! will bring together Artists and Designers from around the Northwest and help springboard us to our final goal both in recognition and finances. Your support is greatly appreciated, especially if you are unable to make it to the show on the 28th! Thanks again for supporting Lime Light Fashion!
The Story/The VisionThank you for taking the time to check out my campaign!
Lime Light Fashion is currently a teeny tiny one-woman web based business providing hard to find stage jewelry, one of a kind super-glam clothing items, specialized costume accessories and custom costuming services to the stage performer, pageant community and women of all ages for special occasions. The goal of my project is to raise money to open a costume, gown and accessories warehouse superstore/fashion show & music venue in Seattle. Let me share a little bit about the overall vision:
Lime Light Fashion Playland will be a true destination shopping experience. We'll carry Angelique Ashton Designs of course, as well as the cutting edge designs of a couple fellow designers I already have lined up, pageant and stage jewelry, specialized performance needs such as belly dance accessories, rodeo/western wear, burlesque and ballroom costumes, corsets, hats, tu-tus, feather boas, heels and evening gowns . . . but the main attraction will be that the store has a runway and a full stage for live shows. It will be a boutique by day where ladies can pick up anything their heart desires for a costume or performance, and will be encouraged to step out of the dressing room onto the runway to work it – then by night the place will transform into the city's premier fashion venue, hosting fashion shows, bachelorette parties, and musical acts. On a regular basis, the store will host Lime Light events to showcase local talent and provide fashion students and new designers opportunities to have their work seen.
It will be a world unto itself, a parallel universe where a girl can still play dress up, no matter her age. It will be a safe place, where people are free to express who they are and have fun with it. Our multifaceted mission will be to spread glitter all over the community, promote self-esteem in teens and young women, promote safe and natural cosmetics and support the local Artist and fashion community. It will be the shimmery ethereal magical princess wonderland from inside my head, on the outside of my head. We will have champagne and cupcakes and live unicorns. I thought about cotton candy, but honestly, I'm not sure I want people with sticky fingers handling everything and petting my unicorns. I mean, they aren't self-bathing like cats . . .
What We Need & What You Get
You get the general idea. It seems that to have a snowball's chance at getting a traditional small business loan these days (or even interest from many Angel Investors) that I need to plan to have about 20% of what I ultimately need to borrow of my own “skin in the game.” In setting the final goal amount for this campaign I thought about setting the goal at $75,000, which is what my estimates project I'll need to actually get doors open, but I decided to keep it realistic and shoot for just enough to get me to the next step – the bank loan. After the bank loan is obtained, funds raised through this campaign can then go towards initial space build out (such as construction of the runway) and equipment, inventory, décor and advertising.
If by chance the unthinkable should happen and I meet my funding goal here but then fail to secure a loan to be able to actually get the store open, or I don't come anywhere near my goal, the journey will not end there. Plan B is to use whatever is raised here to bolster Lime Light Fashion's internet business by investing in a professional re-design, additional inventory and some advertising including producing lines for a couple more fashion shows in the coming year. After another year of running a successful web business and showing my work in larger and more professional arenas, I would then try again to get the loan to open the physical store. So, it may be a long road ahead, but I have faith that it eventually ends up at the same place no matter how far or arduous the journey.
Any contribution no matter how big or small helps and will be forever appreciated! The rewards offered for supporters will also be honored regardless of how long it takes me to get the store open. The last thing on earth I want to do is disappoint anyone who supported me along the way in this. Please consider contributing to my campaign if you would like to one day come and walk the runway and party with us at Lime Light Fashion Playland! Thank you.
