Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my campaign to build an eco-friendly green community of Tiny Houses. I’m Cheryl Martin, and I’ve loved the idea of living small since I watched the documentary [see video below] from faircompanies. Inspired by the tiny house movement, I’m excited at beginning a community of Tiny Houses in Mound Minnesota where I live. That supports an eco-friendly green living environment and affordable housing for everyone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDcVrVA4bSQ
Hello I’m Cheryl Martin. I live in Mound, Minnesota USA where I’m a self-employed Massage Therapist, a mom, an advocate for alternative living and a student at Academy College. In my free time I volunteer to help others, like drive for WeCAB, a network of volunteers that transport those who cannot, to medical appointments, shopping, or to see friends and family.
An Opportunity Presented
The Van der Steeg family has lived and conducted business in Mound, Minnesota, for 65 years selling and creating floral arrangements for all kinds of events to the community. In 2012 the Van der Steeg family lost both their business and their home to circumstances. When a door closes a window opens; here’s my thought: Raise monies to buy the land, build a community of Tiny Houses and in tribute to the family present it in their name [Anthony’s Village] and give them and others an affordable place to live and/or work.
The Goal: Anthony’s Village
Buy the land from the bank, pay back taxes, building costs, and permits; develop the land for a full functioning green living; solar, wind, water capturing, compositing, gardens, walkways, and marketing the development $5,246,250.00
I found Ross Chaplin’s book on Pocket Neighborhoods and have contacted him regarding developing Anthony’s Village. Ross’ passion on building functional tiny communities is spot on with Anthony’s Village mission. Anthony’s Village will consist of micro lodging to experience living small; low impact environment, camping area, micro businesses or an office, and residential living. In supporting a consciousness lifestyle walk/roadways will be designed to capture water for agricultural uses, solar collection and light wind to generate utility and compositing areas to nourish the soil.
Anthony’s Village would also be in support of an educational environment as a model for other communities to emulate into their cities or towns and to rebuild after disasters. Monies raised will further the campaign to build Tiny House Communities in areas that need affordable housing, or are rebuilding after a disaster.
About the Area
The City of Mound is where Anthony’s Village is purposed to be and is within walking distance of shopping, open spaces, parks, and entertainment. Metro transit or WeCAB are available for transportation to the Greater Metro area which is only 30 minutes away, or locally for those who chose to live a car-free life style. This west lake area touts a 4 square miles of fun for everyone, with festivals, music in the park and theater talent you will only be amazed of what it can offer.
Your contribution today will help reach this goal to build, supply, education and meet the need of affordable housing. Educating others conservation through construction, resources, and utilities techniques, that support a low impact living and contagious lifestyle of living simply.
Phase 1: $400,000.00
Raise contributions to purchase the foreclosed land from the bank, pay off back taxes and purchase permits to begin building an eco-friendly development that supports affordable housing, lodging and micro businesses that contribute to the well-being and growth in the community of Anthony’s Village.
Phase 2: $4,000,000.00
The project will be purposed to Architect Ross Chaplin and the Minnehaha Watershed District for water conservation to support water runoff, snow melt and rain water. This application allows Anthony’s Village to capture from pervious pavers on their sidewalks and roadways. Resulting in enriching the watersheds aqua sub basin, recycle for gardening and other green conscious purposes. Ross Chaplin supports holistic approaches to Planning, Design and Building. His experience will contribute to creating small scale community in a large scale world and is spot on with Anthony’s Village mission.
Phase 3: $200,000.00
As an educational model Anthony’s Village would provide a city or town official’s the experience of living smaller in retrospect to the environment as a whole. Displaying, solar, wind and water collection, compositing toilets, construction, heating and cooling that promote environmentally safe and low impact as well as reducing city resources.
Phase 4: $646,250.00
