On January 8th, as Notre Dame fell to Alabama in the BCS National Championship, one lucky fan earned an unfortunate fame as 24.2 million television viewers saw him crumble in his team's tragic demise. The image immediately went viral and thus was born "Sad Irish Fan."
(and because everything is better in animated gif format:

It was fun while it lasted, but now it's time to make Sad Irish Fan happy again.
What can you do for us?
We are teaming up with Sad Irish Fan to help turn this Notre Dame loss into a positive experience and make a donation to the campaign. All proceeds of this campaign are going to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
What can we do for you?
Although any level of donation is graciously accepted, we have gifts for those that wish to donate at the following levels. NONE of the donations will be used to pay for these and #sadirishfan will be yours forever:
$25 - Autographed Sad Irish Fan picture
$50 - #sadirishfan koozie
$500 - Portable Sad Irish Fan
$1,000 - In-Person Visit
(This is a tax-deductible donation.)
Please spread the word!
This campaign can only be successful if you share the good word with others. So PLEASE email, Facebook, tweet, and share about others who would also like to leave this season on a high note.
Oh, and this is for real. In a very for real way.
For any questions, please email sadirishfan@gmail.com.
UPDATE: Sad Irish Fan would like all supporters of the campaign to know that our goal has been, and will continue to be, to fight against leukemia & lymphoma and the terrible effects these diseases cause people every day. Recently, it has been brought to our attention that a member of the football team known to many to be negatively impacted by leukemia, may have been the victim of an elaborate hoax. While the details are still unclear and unknown to us, the Sad Irish Fan campaign will continue fighting against the disease which causes tens of thousands of deaths each year in the US alone. We thank everyone who has supported the campaign and stands with us in our mission.
