What is this Singing and Swinging thing?

Hi there.  I'm Leslie Spring and I've been a recording and performing singer and multi-intrumentalist for ... well let's just say a while now.

I have a passion for classic jazz and the Great American Songbook.  So that passion led me to write and record a collection of brand new songs with everything from soulful jazz ballads to bebop and juke-joint jumping songs, with some good old NY/Vegas style swing for good measure.

I have done a lot of music over the course of my career, but this collection of almost all original songs is something special to me, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to share this album with you.

 

So what's the money for?

The album is recorded, so what's next?

First of all, there's mixing and mastering the album.  I feel good about having captured some great performances with terrific sound quality, but it still needs a little more work to make it "CD-ready" for your listening pleasure.

Next up is manufacturing.  Depending on how many pledges/orders I receive, I will have CDs in sleeves and digipaks manufactured to match those orders.  Of course, the more orders I receive, the lower per-unit manufacturing cost, and the more money I can put toward other parts of the project.

And I've built in just a little overhead for shipping, included in your perk if it is physical media, or overhead for the 3rd-party digital download service if you go that route.

Oops!  Let's not forget that before I can distribute those physical CDs, I have to pre-pay royalty/license fees for those 3 bonus songs.

Finally, I will also use some of these pledged funds in support of marketing/promoting the CD, and for getting a wider distribution network going.  This indiegogo project is really intended to jump-start something (hopefully) bigger than this round of pledges and perk shipments.

 

 

My goal of $5000 is calculated to fund a larger cost effective CD manufacturing run and a small promotional campaign.

 

However, rest assured that no matter what level of funsing I reach with this indiegogo project, I will do a manufacturing run of CDs to fulfill everyone's selected perks.

 

Why "Sings and Swings" is special...

This new album expresses my love of classic swinging jazz vocal songs, but is intended to contribute some new material to the genre in a compelling way.  If you love old Sinatra, Bennett, Ella, Nat "King" Cole and more, I think you'll love the songs I've written and recorded for you.

I am coming to you, my supporters, with the album already recorded.  So the creative "hard part" is over.

I just need your help to put these songs in a package that you'll love, and to kick off what I hope will be a success in this exciting phase of my musical career.
