Le Crack Zombie
This idea came about while watching the homeless walk around NOLA with no where to go during the wee hours of the mornings. Most mornings, I have to be to work at 4am, and it puzzled me watching the homeless walking around at weird times of the night/morning. I noticed how they walked around with no apparent destination, nothing to do, feeding on whatever they could. To me, they were zombie like. After thinking on it, I came up with a concept for "Crackhead Zombies (Le Crack Zombie)".
This story is not exactly what you think it is, and won't look exactly how you think it may. The story involves a drug dealer who decides to stop dealing drugs, but has a partner who is not thinking the same and is untrustworthy. A governmental designer drug is given to them, and our protagonist decides not to distribute it to the community, while his partner does. This substance (a governmental designer crackrock) creates zombies. Walking dead crackheads. My story doesn't just show zombies eating people, but is about our homeless situation and drug problems in NOLA, and involves dirty politics and governmental conspiracies.
In writing this film, I decided I wanted it to look different from other zombie films or TV shows. The film will be shot digitally in black and white, giving it more of a foreign feel. I want to glamorize the city, not the crack trade nor the homeless. I will hope that the story is entertaining, but will also draw attention to the homeless problems in NOLA. Just a different way of telling their story.
Our zombies are traditional, but also different. Our zombies are able to retain intelligence. This all comes into play throughout the course of the story.
*Where Your Money Goes*
The money raised will go strictly to production. Obviously, there will be a lot of make up and gore needed. For that, the talented Kristal Shannon (www.kristalshannon.com) will create what I will call “designer zombies”. Also, actors and a small crew will be employed for various days for about a month to shoot the project. I am an independent filmmaker who believes that 1 milloion dollars is not needed to make an entertaining picture, and I also how to cut corners. I ask that you help me to cut as little corners as possible.
