Short Summary
How many times do you wonder 'where are the good books?' Hi, my name is Julia Heath and I am the publicist for Outside The Box Press. Our company was founded by Koraly Dimitriadis. Koraly is a 3CR radio presenter, has been published widely and has performed Australia wide and overseas. She is the resident poet at Brunswick Street Bookshop. This is what Koraly had to say:
“I am passionate about literature and words. I have been writing for many years and I believe that Australian books does not represent Australia. I believe it represents England, not multicultural Australia. But it isn't just about culture. There is a particular idea amongst the literary world as to what literature is. Therefore writing that sits outside this idea is dismissed and not being 'literary'.”
We want to have a big party to launch our first title, Love and Fuck Poems: The Deluxe Edition. Love and Fuck Poems was initially a zine which was published by Koraly Dimitriadis a year ago. It repeatedly sold out in book shops and is stocked nationally and internationally. We were excited about republishing it as a perfect bound book. National distribution is underway and included in our stockists is Readings and Title. We want to make a big deal about it, not only to promote the book, but to promote this new venture. We want to invite everyone of importance in the literary world to the event and show that we want to be serious players in the industry.
What We Need & What You Get
The event will be held on Thursday the 6th of December at Brunswick Street Bookstore. Your funds will go towards paying for an opera singer which will perform alongside Koraly Dimitriadis who is the author of Love and Fuck Poems. It will go towards printing invitations which will go out to many key people in the industry. It will go towards marketing the event and also catering for the event. Any additional funds made will go towards future projects for Outside The Box Press.
If you contribute more than $40 you also get a copy of Love and F**k Poems: The Deluxe Edition which can be posted or picked up on the launch night. To claim your copy email info@outsidetheboxpress.com with your name and the amount you contributed and if you will be picking up the book on the night or your address if you would like it posted.
Businesses who contribute more than $150 can have their brand promoted. If they contribute before the 5th of November they can their logo on our invitations. If they contribute after this date but before the launch they can have their poster displayed at event and mentioned in our speech on the night.
The Impact
By contributing you will help launch us into the literary world. We don't only want to publish writing that challenges, we also want to take it a step further, to have a website dedicated to discussion about the literary world, and to also hold a three day festival tackling the issues that we feel are not being addressed. If Melbourne is the UNESCO city of literature then we have to be able to critique and learn from ourselves. Only then will we grow.
