About This Campaign:

Funds raised from this campaign will go towards development of the online product, deploying inner-city classrooms, and promoting our services to the local school systems. Fyrware LLC is currently collaborating with local partners to help make this dream a reality. About L2W3 and Fyrware LLC:

L2W3 is an initiative being launched by Fyrware LLC to provide an educational platform for learning state-of-the-art web technologies aimed directly at young students, with the goal of increasing interest in STEM studies across the United States.  We plan to do this through easy to follow learning exercises which will provide motivation for future accomplishments.

L2W3, which stands for “Learn to World Wide Web”, is a free STEM oriented educational platform for students. The new standard in web page development created by the international World Wide Web Consortium will be used to provide the basic foundation to younger students and allow them to progress to more complex subjects in the field. L2W3 will provide online curriculum, free cloud hosting, and inner-city classrooms all for free as a Community Resource.

Why? According to the U.S. Bureau of Statistics, in the next five years, STEM jobs are projected to grow twice as quickly as jobs in other fields. While all jobs are expected to grow by 10.4%, STEM jobs are expected to increase by 21.4%. It is clear that 80% of all jobs in the next decade will require technical skills.

Of the 3.8 million 9th graders in the US, only 233,000 end up choosing a STEM degree in college (National Center for Education Statistics). That means only six STEM graduates out of every 100 9th graders.  (The STEM Dilemma)

L2W3 will leverage the existing work of The World Wide Web Consortium which has published these standards for web development.  While many online resources provide parts of this curriculum, in most cases with an adult audience in mind, the delivery of this content has not been well done in the past. W3Schools, is one of the web’s most used learning resource for web development. However as pointed out on w3fools.com, this resource is riddled with flaws. 

We are recreating the knowledge-base on World Wide Web standards and eliminating flaws while improving the overall willingness to pursue STEM careers. L2W3 will provide a solid base of information and learning for students everywhere, giving them an advantage as they enter secondary and post-secondary programs and courses. It is imperative to reach students at the earliest possible time in their STEM-knowledge development. L2W3 will provide an easy to use resource that gives the student immediate success in acquiring these basic skills.

Our Team includes technical assets as well as qualified teaching professionals who have extensive award-winning experience in using the web to deliver educational material to younger students. We are also working with local partners to bring L2W3 powered classrooms to a city near you.
