My name is Roger Jackaman a filmmaker with a desire to work with people full of passion for what they do. I have worked extensively abroad for a range of international organisations trying to help improve people’s lives around the world and I now have an opportunity to combine my love of filmmaking with a group of deserving and passionate people.
I am currently working on making a series of short films that will both highlight and promote groups of individuals in Kosovo. Each short mini documentary will focus on a group or individual involved in a positive activity that they do purely for the love of it. I want to show that the youth and people of Kosovo are much more than they are portrayed in the news.
Having worked in so many countries I am frustrated at the waste of talent and lack of opportunities available to so many young people around the world. This project aims to highlight some of the raw youthful energy that exist out there just waiting to be harnessed.
The first film is already in pre-production and features a Kosovo Racing Driver who despite his many setbacks and dire financial situation still manages to be competitive thanks to his dedication, passion and raw talent.
I am working with a local producer who has helped identify this and other personal stories and will help promote the film(s) within Kosovo once completed.
The subject of each film has been chosen based on their inspiring story and more importantly their passion.
The impact of this project has a great potential not only to directly benefit the subjects of each short film but also to raise awareness of the everyday struggles people in Kosovo face while simply trying to fulfil their childhood ambitions. It will also help to dispel some of the misconceptions people have of this region and show that what really connects us all is our loves and passions and not our hatred. I believe that people who watch these films will be surprised and inspired by each of the stories and hopefully motivated to help affect change in not only their own but other people’s lives and communities as well.
The funds raised here through your contributions, however small, will all be used to increase the production values of the first film, specifically:
- purchase of portable lighting
- Musical score and subtitles
- Colour correction and sound design
- Creation of promotional materials for distribution
- Film festival entrance fees
- Purchase of a second camera and additional sound recording equipment (optional depending on amount raised)
If we hit the full target this will enable us to continue with the pre-production of the second and third in the series. Our funding target might actually appear relatively small for what is quite an ambitious project. This is because we already have most of the equipment needed and are currently self-funding the first stage of the project. It will be possible for us to finish the first film regardless of the funds raised. However, there is a far greater possibility of us distributing them to Local TV stations if we have the higher production values which the extra funds will allow.
Although we are not a charitable organisation the subjects of each film has the possibility to benefit greatly from this project by, at the very least, raising their profile at a local level. What might seem like very little to many more developed countries but means a great deal here in Kosovo.
This project is community based as its main aim is to highlight figures in the local community that can help inspire and motivate others to get involved.
All contributions however small are very much appreciated. If you are unable to help financially please help by sharing this link with your friends and relatives usinjg the links and indiegogo share tools. You can also find us on facebook at, https://www.facebook.com/KosovoPassion
