Konbit Communitere

Help us keep the doors open to Haiti’s only Resource Center.

It’s that time of year, and it feels like we’ve grown too big for our britches. As an organization working to empower Haitian communities, we operate largely on the generosity of friends, volunteers and donors from around the world.

And now we are preparing to pay rent for another year, but we need your help. It costs us $30,000 to keep the land where we operate Haiti’s only Resource Center. This base of operations serves as a place for experts, leaders and blossoming organizations to network, collaborate and take action.

At the Resource Center we've created jobs in Haiti, run a huge community workshop, showcased local artists and so much more. This base of operations is a place to exchange ideas and synchronize development efforts in Haiti.

A community leader in Haiti, Robi Louino, spoke about Haiti Communitere's role in Port-au-Prince,

"Haiti Communitere is the only space we have in Haiti that truly welcomes youth from marginalized communities, from lower classes, those without voices, and treats them with dignity, as leaders. Not only do they welcome us, but they help us take our ideas and dreams and develop them into realities. Whether it is helping the community of Paris create its own Eiffel Tower, to helping us create an agro-artisanal festival in La Difference, to providing a space for the construction of benches for a local model community school, Haiti Communitere does not tell Haitians what is best for them but instead listens to our ideas and helps us find a sense of empowerment in making them happen. This is rare, and this is truly another model of humanitarian response and development."

In 2012 alone, we've witnessed a lifetime of change and success. We've connected to over 300 international and local organizations and shared our space with over 7,000 individuals. We've trained professionals, educated both children and adults and--most importantly--amplified the voices of Haitian changemakers. Our greatest victories are thanks to the hard work and commitment of people like you

If you contribute today, you'll create an opportunity for us to keep up the good work.
