What's the Story?
I'm a lucky girl. From the time I took my first steps on this musical path at 48, I've been blessed to have the support of those who believed in me: friends and family who encouraged me to pursue my dream; terrific songwriters and producers like Dennis Walker and Alan Mirikitani who gave me unforgettable songs to sing and made me sound great in the studio; fiercely talented musicians who have backed me up in the studio and on tour; DJs who gave an unknown artist a chance to be heard; and...
YOU, my amazing fans, who've shown up at venues big and small all over the US, Canada, and Europe, bought my CDs, and urged and inspired me over the past three years to make another record. Grateful? You bet I am.
SO, WHAT TOOK SO LONG?
Although Lucky Girl and Still the Rain were very successful, this time I wanted to do a record the way I envisioned with no label help and no label agenda. I like to sing tunes I can sink my heart and teeth into, songs with stories - that make you laugh, cry, shake your fist in the sky...songs you'll want to sing along with and keep singing...in the car, the house, the shower...everywhere.
I love the blues - raw, swampy blues with nasty grooves, swing, shuffles, sweet Memphis soul, R&B - this record has all that with original tunes penned by some of the best contemporary blues songwriters in the business.

ABOUT TONY B.
Grammy winning producer Tony Braunagel and I have spent more than a year in pre-production on this record and we're ready to go in the studio and record. Since we first matched tequila shots at the 2010 Blues Music awards, we've been talking about this killer record we could make together and it's time to bring 10 Miles of Bad Road to you.

Tony has worked with Robert Cray, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Burdon, B.B. King, and Etta James. He's made big waves this year for his work with Curtis Salgado and Trampled Under Foot. I'm very excited to be working with him.

The title track 10 Miles of Bad Road was inspired by my friend Curtis Salgado and my new release will feature a special bonus track co-produced by the legendary soul and blues artist himself.

Fundraising dollars and support from my local community and fan base made it possible for me and my band to compete and walk away with a top prize at the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. I've never forgotten what a powerful force that kind of grass roots help can be.

That's why I decided for this third album to reach out directly to you, my fans, inviting you to partner with me by helping to fund the new release and participate in the creative process on everything from song selection to recording, mixing, mastering and manufacturing. Crowd funding perks allow me to show my immense gratitude and appreciation for your continued support in meaningful and personal ways.
The backer rewards outlined here allow you to pre-order the album and choose additional perks including limited edition merchandise, VIP dinners, music lessons - all of which are EXCLUSIVE to my crowd funders.
ANYTHING available through the perks is EXCLUSIVE to this campaign. The CD Digipak, 12" Vinyl, T-shirt and photos are all one time offers. None of them will ever be printed in this way again.
Risks and Challenges
It takes a lot of money to make a great record and together we can do it. Any surplus funds will roll over into making that great record even better (like adding a horn section!) and towards advertising, marketing, promoting and touring the new release. The completed album will ship in March 2014 with your help. Some of the additional backer rewards may require a little scheduling finesse but will be fulfilled as promptly as possible.
Other Ways You Can Help
