Juabos
Juabos is my 3yr old American Staffordshire Terrier. He’s my son and my whole world. Full of life and has a bigger then life personality. I got Juabos around the time I was recovering from Cervical Cancer and used him as my therapy dog. He has been there every step of the way for me, and now I need to be there for him.
What’s wrong??
Juabos started acting funny Friday night (01/04/13). I called the vet and they told me to keep an eye on him and to bring him in on Monday if he doesn’t get better. WELL he got worse and wasn’t eating and couldn’t hold down any water he could drink. With no bowel movements for 2 days and concern about dehydration from the lack of water and consistent throwing up. I brought him to the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital. Emergency surgery was started at 4pm on 01/06/13 and he got out of surgery around 8pm that same night.
What was found during the surgery?
Juabos had foreign objects stuck in his large and small intestine, bowel and esophagus. His intestine was punctured and repairs needed to be done. The DR said they removed a portion of his intestine and sewed the remaining pieces back together. His spleen could have been compromised during the surgery, but signs will not show till the recovering process. They’re afraid of infection and giving him a 50/50 chance of survival if he can’t bounce back in his recovery.
Why I’m asking for help?
Juabos is worth more to me than anything in the world. He’s my best friend, my son, my family, my life.
His surgery put me back $3100 (before his complication of removing a portion of his intestine). I'm now looking at a $4500+ Vet bill. The cost is over whelming and I had to deplete what little I had saved in my retirement account. Juabos has a long road in front of him and an expensive one as well. Please help my son <3
