Hello everyone! Welcome to Indie Gogo Project Page!
My name is Brittany Crouch and I am majoring in Japanese Linguistics and Asian Studies. I am passionate about sharing language and parts of the world with others. I believe everyone should have a chance to experience the world, and with the internet and social networking, this is possible more than ever before!
Given the chance, in JUNE 2013 I would travel to NILS (A Japanese Language School) http://www.ulearnjapanese.com/ , and share my journey, my daily experiences, and talk with others all around the world whilst I'm there. Showing others the culture, what studying the language is like, and holding live video chats. Not only will you help spread the Japanese culture to other parts of the world, you will help me share important information about traveling across the world and studying a language with other hopefuls and college students.
Most of my videos on my YouTube channel include sharing Japanese culture, study materials, and sharing my study experience with my viewers. I recently moved from this channel http://www.youtube.com/user/bkcartist to this channel http://www.youtube.com/user/buritanipyon. My videos have over 11, 000 views and I have about 90 subscribers.
What We Need & What You Get
So, why am I raising money?
Travelling across the globe for an educational stay is quite an endeavor! Any funds I raise will be put toward the trip only. This includes, books for class, tuition, dorm fees, the plane ticket, etc. All cost information can be found on the website, however the basic costs for a 30-day program include:
- 4-Week Program Fee. $750
- A 90 day dorm stay. $950
- About 400 Yen x 30 days for transportation to campus by train. $150.
- Lunch for 30 days varies.
- Two-Way Plane Ticket. About $1800 (prices fluctuate depending on the time of year)
This website accepts PAYPAL! :)
What I am NOT asking you to do is help fund media costs. I have a Canon T3i and a Macbook all ready to film, edit, and send these videos straight to you as soon as I'm funded! I also have my passport. Media outlets I will be posting on are Twitter, Tumblr, and Youtube. These links can be found on my Profile Page.
Why the extra $210?
The $210 added on to the base $3000 I am trying to raise is to compensate for Indie Gogo fees, pay pal, and credit card fees.

By donating, not only will you be impacting my life, but you will be impacting every person that watches my Japanese Langauge School Video Blog series from the day I post it onward. You are helping spread a first hand account of what it is like to study a language, short term, in another country, specifically at the NILS Japanese Language School.
More than that, you are showing everyone that it IS possible to study abroad, it IS possible to follow your dreams, and that Education, be it at home or abroad is one of the most valuable experiences and privileges that we have as humans. Some of my perks include sending Japanese learning materials to spread this learning and pay it forward.
I believe in education, I believe in the power of language, and I believe in the power of a team. YOU are my team, YOU are my support and I want to share my experiences with YOU. I have Kanji videos and a Kana video to help spread Japanese culture to everyone, now I'd like to take it a step further. With your help, We can.
