Jessica Moore's Debut Solo Album

my first solo album is nearly ready... but there is one more song to go! (and mixing, mastering, & manufacturing)

a little bit about me, and the album

I'm a singer-songwriter from Toronto, poised at the edge of my first solo album. These are desert songs, sea songs, ghost songs, and love songs that have come into being over the past four years. Vocals and harmonies are grounded by compositions on banjo, piano and guitar (and some unconventional/body percussion).

I've collaborated with several incredibly talented musicians to give these songs body and emotion (Abigail Lapell and Lisa Bozikovic on vocal harmonies, Gabe Levine on guitar and clarinet, Ryan Granville-Martin on drums, Tyler Belluz and Heather Kirby on bass, and Colt Miller on pedal steel), and have been lucky to work with Producer / Engineer Heather Kirby (of the band Ohbijou) on arrangements for the songs.

We recorded most of the album this summer in Toronto (over two days with record-high temperatures for added swampy sultriness), but the songs still need to be mastered, and there is one song left to be recorded & mixed.

where your donations will go

The $3,100 will go towards: studio fees (I'll be recording the last song with pedal steel player Colt Miller at the Marfa Recording Co. in Texas), mixing, mastering, and manufacturing.

I've got some sweet treats to offer in return for contributions!

a little more about me and my music...

I've been performing both solo and with my folk-duo Charms (and in other collaborations) since 2008, mostly in Toronto but also in Montreal, Hamilton, Marfa TX, and B.C. Ever since Charms released our self-titled album in 2010 - a collection of eight stripped-down songs in harmony - I have been building towards my own solo album. I am so excited to bring these songs into the world - songs to dream to, to tap your feet to, to sail away on.

My album launch will be held in early spring 2013.
