Jarell Brooks, Aurora, Batman, massacre Teen victim & superhero!!!

What happened:

If you're like me, you woke up on  Friday, July 20th to the horrific news of this senseless tragedy. My heart sank, I cried. A masked gunman stormed into a midnight premeire of Batman's "Dark Knight Rises" killing 12 innocent people, wounding 58 others.

Let's all give a true American Hero glory. In a life or death situation, Jarell Brooks, an 18 year old, saw a mother (Patricia Legarreta) who said she was alone with her 2 kids (ages 4 & 4 months) and ushered them to safety. Jarell was shot in his leg during the ordeal.  His story inspired me to begin this campaign. He should be recognized as a TRUE HERO. As a mother of young children this really hit home because I would want someone to do the same for me. Let's bless Jarell, every dollar adds up! He's a fine young man, who is selfless and a HERO! It's what you do when no one is looking, when the cameras are off that defines the REAL soul of a man.

Jarell has mounting medical bills, and had to quit his summer job due to his injury. Jarell was saving to begin college in the fall! *UPDATE 7/22 Jarell Brooks and his lovely mother Eirz Scott have joined the campaign! Jarell is currently at home recovering but still in a lot of pain and of course emotionally distraught. His mother gives all glory to God for bringing her son home. I learned that Jarell graduated high school in May and is eager to begin college in the fall! Jarell was working through the summer saving money for college. I must also commend Jarell's mother Eriz Scott for raising such a fine young honorable man. It all starts at home.  Jarell is working on a video to post soon. Let's all pray for Jarell's speedy recovery physically and emotionally.

Hey everyone! Wooo hooo! Day #2 of Jarell’s campaign was a success! We’re about 1/3 to our goal:) Today Jarell’s father Jeffery Brooks and his stepmother, Deidra Brooks, joined the campaign! We have to give it up to this family for raising a fine young man. Thank you to everyone who has contributed by donating, sharing, and praying. We had a slight hiccup early on in the day where the campaign was down for a short while, and a fake account popped up as well. Hey happy peeps! Spoke with Jarell’s mother, Eirz Scott to get and update on Jarell earlier. She tells me that Jarell is migrating from the crutches to the cane! That is a huge step in his recovery. He is expected to make a full recovery. I just keep replaying over in my head what it must have been like to be in that theater and cannot fathom what everyone went through. UPDATE 7/30! I just got a call from Jarell’s mother. Jarell had a doctors appointment today and he has to have immediate emergency surgery on his leg. She said they should have did the surgery the first day when he was shot, instead of stitching him up. His leg is not in good condition, even though he was trying to pull through. Jarell is so strong. He will be in the hospital until further notice so please keep him in your prayers. I will update everyone as soon as I get another update!

UPDATE 7/31! Jarell came out of surgery yesterday demanding food, which is a good thing! Today Jarell is in the most pain because the surgery was to open his wound, clean it and try and make it heal properly. His mother says its HUGE and she has never heard him scream in pain like that. Makes me want to go give Jarell a big kiss! Right now more than anything prayers are appreciated. Also the family is rotating taking off work to care for Jarell so the financial burden is high. No one was expecting to have to start the healing process at square one again. Jarell will remain hospitalized until further notice & I will update everyone soon as he’s released!

Hey Everyone! Jarell is still in the hospital today. He says his pain has improved 5% He is expected to possibly be out of the hospital by tomorrow.
