My name is Jack Tucker and I am a tow truck driver who is not working right now because of a tragic accident to my 11 year old daughter, Jacklyn. On june 19, 2012 she was having a sleepover at her friends house. She was laying on the couch and rolled off and her friends dog (jack russel, bull dog mix) was laying there and began to growl, when Jacklyn got up to get on the couch the dog viciously pounced and attacked my daughter tearing off her upper right side of her lip, nostril, and cheek. She couldn't get the dog off and it also took a chunk of her left side just beneath her arm and tore it open and bit her on the back of her left arm.
That is the worst phone call i have ever received. She had to be trauma hawked to the st mary's trauma center in west palm beach, fl where they began an emergency repair on her face. The surgeon was able to put her original skin back on but he said it will not work because the blood vessel was unrepairable. He had my daughter go through one and a half weeks of hyperbaric treatment to see if they could get blood flowing to her skin. The treatment did not work and the skin died.
We had to go to the Joe Dimaggio childrens hospital in hollywood, fl for her to see a facial reconstructive surgeon. The surgeon forwarned me of many future surgeries to repair her face. The next morning she went to surgery and was in for 6 hrs of surgery. He was able to use the live skin on her face and lower lip to save the damaged area. It was a very horrific experience that I hope no parent has to go through. My daughters mouth is now stiched shut for three weeks and cannot eat solid food. I told Jacklyn that i would stay at her side the entire time and i have. I have not been back to work since the accident so i can take care of her while she has her face stitched up. The medical bills are piling up and our home bills are starting to pile up. Jacklyn will also have to have cosmetic surgeries in the future also that we need to have money for. I just can't do this myself but i don't want my daughter to stay with a damaged face. She needs the cosmetic surgeries so she will be normal and not self concious.
This is a plea for help from any and everyone to help achieve our goal of $225,000 for everything that needs to be paid and done in the future. Even if we do not meet our goal anything will help our situation. My daughter deserves to have her face back. Indiegogo.com has plenty of tools to help get our story for help out to everyone so please if you can donate something we would really appreciate it .
Think, what would you do if this happened to your child. Thank you for your time.
