Is there Nano in Your Sweets?

We found nanoparticles, 1 millionth the size of a grain of sand, in Dunkin' Donuts. Possibly dangerous to your health, help us test other products for nano too!

Dear Supporters,

We have great news! Thanks to our recent media splash and your contributions, the maker of Trident gum—Mondelez, one of the largest food manufacturers in the world—called us to say it is not using nano. The company is also requiring suppliers to provide nano-free ingredients. Mondelez did not respond to our inquiries last year, but with this campaign, food makers are beginning to see how much you care about nano.

So, instead of testing Trident gum, we will test Betty Crocker Whipped Frosting (it has the same coloring additive that we found in Dunkin’ Donuts).

And there’s more good news—we reached the $6,000 mark so we can test both M&Ms and Pop-Tarts!

As of today, we still need to raise $2,870. With six days left and counting, you can help complete this campaign to test for nano by forwarding this link to your friends and family and asking them to contribute too.

Dear Supporters,

Thanks to people like you we just crossed our first milestone of $3,000 and we’re taking Pop-Tarts to the lab to be tested for nano!

We have a week left to raise the remaining $4,000 to test M&Ms and Trident Gum.

You can help make this happen by forwarding this link to your friends and family and asking them to contribute too.

Dear Supporters,

We want to know why investigating which products contain nanomaterials is important to you and your family.

Would you have a moment to tell us why you gave to this campaign? We’ll use it in our conversation with the companies.

Thanks to your donations we’re getting close to $3,000 – which is enough to send Pop-Tarts to the lab for nano testing!

Share your reasons for donating on our campaign page to help others to give.

This issue also got more great exposure today in Scientific American (http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observation...) and on The New York Times’ food blog (http://bittman.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/06/lit...).

Thanks again for your support!
