Sun Valley Gun Club
We are Sun Valley Gun Club. An indie rock band from Sacramento at a time when Indie Rock Bands from Sacramento are scarce. We are a band that loves lyrics and songwriting at a time when songwriting craft and good lyrics are not necessary. We've played in all kinds of different Northern California bands for the last 10 years, and have all found a kind of a strange home within this project.
Into The Valley Sun
Our first recording as a band is called 'Into The Valley Sun'. It's the story of living and playing music in Northern California, the scandals and the intrigue. The frustration is fully autobiographical, as is the tambourine.
Our friend, Jack Shirley (Comadre/Jesse Michaels) recorded this beautiful sounding record for us on 2" tape at his Atomic Garden Studios in Palo Alto, California. It was mixed by the wonderful Brandon Eggleston (Akron Family/Mountain Goats) at his Cloud City Sound in Portland, Oregon. In the forests of Narnia, or rather, Stockholm, Sweden, it was mastered by Eric Broyhill (Far/Tera Melos).
The cover was illustrated by world renowned artist Peter Stults, who is most recognized by his movie posters.
Vinyl
Did you know that it costs money to do things? We were surprised ourselves. We have paid for the recording, mixing and proper mastering of our own album, with no help from major labels or Mrs. Haversham types lording their superiority over us. We would love to properly finalize the journey of an album that we all believe in. We want to have this thing pressed to vinyl by the so very capable folks at Pirate Press, and that's where you, our friends, and soon to be friends come in. Without you it can't be accomplished plain and simple. We need the rest of our money to pay rent.
Thanks
We've got what we believe to be some awesome thank yous for going out of your way to help us make this music. Some otherwise unattainable recordings, swag, house shows, and art from local and international artists. It's not enough to say thank you, but thank you. Seriously.
