Four alumni (Veronica Vazquez-Jackson, Dominic Colon, Erica Strubbe-Montalvo, and Joseph Dominick Martinez) of the Performing Arts Program of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx, NY return to the stage where they first got their break 25 years ago in order to direct/produce the Broadway musical IN THE HEIGHTS with an amazing group of talented teen and young adult artists from the club for April 5th (FRI 8pm), 6th (SAT 8pm), and 7th (SUN 4pm), 2013.

The beautiful thing about the IN THE HEIGHTS musical is that it tells a story about Family, Community, & knowing what it means to be Home.  Kips Bay has been a second home for thousands of youth in the Bronx, a safe place where kids can "belong", and play and grow socially with their peers.

So in the spirit of community, with two months left before opening night of this 2 ½ hour amazing musical, we, the four alum, decided to campaign via Indiegogo in order to restore our other "home" both creatively and financially, the Performing Arts Program.

The biggest challenge is the stage, audio and lighting equipment has not changed in over 30 years!!!  Of the fifteen hanging lights in front of the stage only two work.  And one of those two is pointing in the wrong direction.  Like any functioning home repairs and upkeep are a must.  Theatrically we are past due!

Our goal of $35,000 is needed to produce a spectacular show.  With those monies we will: purchase wireless microphones with headsets, audio sound board, audio equalizer, portable theatrical lights with light board, build sets, create the show music, get costumes for thirty cast members, and promote the show through any and all means.

As you look to the right side you will see amazing perks which we are providing. There are a variety of denominations ranging from $5 to $5,000 (Executive Producer Title).  There is even one offer for $96,000 for the crazy amazing supporter who wants to be our ANGEL/EXECUTIVE PRODUCER.  "$96,000?! Holla!"

Tickets do not go on sale until the end of February so the only way to secure tickets is by donating $250 or more.

Please know that whether we go over or under our $35,000 goal, all monies will go directly to the Performing Arts Program of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club for the IN THE HEIGHTS production and future productions.  Kips Bay is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

IN THE HEIGHTS has changed the face of musical theater.  No other production like it exists.  What makes it even more special is the kids at Kips Bay and in the neighboring communities of the Bronx can relate to the storyline because it tells the story of where they live.  Economic realities make it very hard for Kips Bay members to see a Broadway production.  Fifty percent of the members live in a single-parent home and fifty-one percent live below the poverty level.  Your contribution makes it possible for us to give them not only an amazing theatrical production but to keep the price at $10-$15 per ticket.
