CAMPAIGN ENDS TONIGHT AT 11:59pm PACIFIC!! If we magically hit $1000 in contributed funds here on Indiegogo, we will turn around and put $250 of back into indie album and video projects on Indiegogo!!!
iHateRadio will bring together the best independent internet radio stations, podcasts andstreaming albums from independent artists in a concise smartphone app and cutting-edge website library, in hopes to bring the power of independent broadcasting to the fingertips of everyone. The importance of your support cannot be conveyed in this short text, but if we have any hope of fighting back against the suit-generated playlists of terrestrial and commercial radio, iHateRadio is it, and your generous donation will greatly support the fight!
iHateRadio, LLC was formed in October of 2012 by Moe Angelo, and present steps have already been taken toward making it a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization. Music has been a part of Moe's life from the very beginning. After a childhood full of musical exploration and spending years in independent bands through high school and college, Moe started Rukus Radio in August of 2007 in Youngstown, Ohio. Rukus Radio began as a podcast and eventually moved to a 24/7 streaming internet radio station that focused solely on independent bands. Through the years, Rukus Radio has positioned itself at the forefront of independent music, and helps hundreds of independent artists from all over the world gain the exposure their music deserves.
In 2011, after moving the station's headquarters to Central Florida, Rukus Radio launched Rukus Net, a family of internet radio stations each with their own mission and product, and Moe began putting together plans for a custom smartphone application. After the Android version's release, Moe jokingly began calling the app "iHateRadio," as a dig at the corporate-owned iHeartRadio. And that's when the idea sparked. It's high time that the corporate suits receive a little competition from the thousands of truly amazing and independent internet radio stations from all over the world.
What We Need & What You Get
We vow to make public and available, all information regarding where the funds raised were spent. This will be done as needed on a quarterly basis until all funds have been exhausted!!
Almost all of the funds raised will be going to app development for all major mobile and tablet operating systems. There will be an extremely large amount of work going into the product designs, both website and smartphone app, and the costs of development are high.
A portion of the funds raised will be dedicated to operation and talent booking costs for the iHateRadio Festival, which will be held to celebrate the app's release.
A small portion of funds will go toward operational costs and promotional campaigns once the app is released.
You can read more about the Perks in detail in the Perk section, however most of the lower level donation's perks will consist of swag and music downloads. As you get into the higher levels of donation, the Perks will actually include the ability to develop and run your own internet radio station that will be included in the iHateRadio library!
If our goal is not fully met, funding for promotion and the iHateRadio Festival will be relinquished, and all funds will go toward product development.
Help us fight back against the Mainstream!
Your contribution and support is going to speak volumes on behalf of the independent artists as well as the fans! There is no longer a need to be spoonfed the mainstream playlists by the teams of corporate suits that make them based on how much payola they receive. It's about the music, and we need to do everything we can to ensure it remains that way. By supporting iHateRadio and sharing it with your friends and social networks, independent broadcasters and artists from all over the world will actually have a chance at their voices being heard by many, and many that truly believe in what they are supporting.
