I Want You is a modern day love story set in the current climate of cross-continental relationships, social networking and modern communications. Where pixelated faces, longing and words of woo, replace touch and the immediate.
Having fallen in love with Rafal Harim, a beautiful and charismatic actor from Israel, while backpacking in South America, Maya Rose is dedicated to their intimate and heady daily Skype-dates at her local dingy “1990’s” internet café in Melbourne. All is well in cyber love and lust until a wild birthday night out on the town forces Maya to confront the difficulties of long distance love and the conflict between her online romance and the ‘real’ world around her.
Maya longs for Raf more than ever and nothing in her present reality will do. But… where is he?? Raf is nowhere to be seen. Virtually, that is…
I Want You is a journey into the intimate yet passionate experience of a long-distance relationship. It explores how successful the Internet is at keeping people on separate ends of the world very close. And yet at the same time, the film looks at how easy it is to lose ourselves in a reality inside the computer (or on the end of it), at the expense of our own reality, right here, right now.
