Long Story Short

Dawit (David) Fasil has a lot of friends in America. For years he has driven American families through the busy streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, cultivating friendship after friendship.

Earlier this year Dawit contracted meningitis, missing several weeks of work while he was in the hospital recovering. He was dealt another unfortunate blow this past summer when he lost his job as a driver. The weight of supporting his two young daughters, as well as his extended family, as an unemployed man in Ethiopia hit hard. Poverty is a destructive force in Ethiopia, robbing families of so much, including the bonds that hold them together.

But Dawit has a strong faith in God, and his friends back in America haven't forgotten him. Dawit's kindness, his passion for his country, and his love for his children have made an impression on hundreds of families who now call him a friend.

Together, we friends of Dawit, ask you to donate today. Help us purchase a van that will allow Dawit to drive once again! Help us help him avoid poverty, keep his family fed and clothed, and give this family the future they all deserve.

What We Need (& What You Get)

$15,000 is enough money to buy a new car in America, but in Ethiopia $15,000 US Dollars will only purchase a 15 – 20 year-old van. But one used van is all Dawit needs to start up his own driving business, allowing him to support his own family and drive Ethiopian business forward!

In the unfortunate event we don't reach our goal of $15,000, it will be unlikely that Dawit will be able to purchase a vehicle reliable enough to start his own business. But the total amount donated (minus a 9% Indiegogo.com fee) will be given to Dawit to use for his family as needed.
