Bullying is a choice. The power to choose is yours. We believe that the key to ending bullying lies in the moment when you make that choice. We want to empower kids to make better choices. The "I Choose" Anti-Bullying Campaign is a youth-inspired movement that challenges people to stop, think and remember that their choices matter.
“I Choose” is the first education initiative of our nonprofit, The Yoursphere Media Foundation and Coalition for Internet Safety Education and Reform 501(c)(3). When we created it in March 2012, we knew we had to design a solution that went beyond addressing bullying at the surface; the solution needed to tackle the issue at its roots. But the solution also needed to be simple enough for young children to understand.
We started asking questions like, what would happen if kids, at that pivotal moment, chose to show compassion instead of being cruel? How could we remind kids that this moment counts, that it can shape their life and the lives of the people around them? So, with the help from some really awesome kids and teens who said that the choices they make are the key to ending bullying, together, we came up with five powerful social concepts that kids can choose as a counteraction to bullying: friendship, kindness, respect, compassion and love. To bring this all to fruition, we created a website for the campaign where people can learn more about our mission, declare their choice and share their own bullying story with the public.
What We Need & What You Get
On our own, we've been able to bring the "I Choose" Challenge into schools all over the country. Today, the program is in more than 300 schools in the U.S. and ten countries around the world. Due to a lack of funding, however, we can no longer keep up with the demand. Educators from all around the world are requesting the program, and the list just keeps growing. That's where your donations come in. Every penny we receive will go directly to funding the materials and shipping costs to get the "I Choose" Classroom Challenge into the schools that need them.
For donating $10 you get an “I Choose” bracelet of your choice.
For donating $25 you get an “I Choose” bracelet of your choice and an announcement of your support on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
For donating $100 you get everything in Perk 2, and we will add your name to the Supporters page on our campaign’s website.
Here's a breakdown of how your contributions can help hundreds or thousands of students across the country:
- $150 will get our anti-bullying program into 10 schools or youth groups
