Who We Are & Our Story
Although writer Marni Van Dyk and director Molly McGlynn went to the same university at the same time, shared mutual friends and even dated the same guy (but at different times...we know, right?) the pair actually met years later on Craigslist. True story.
Marni and Molly moved in together (with Molly's sister's cat) to an apartment overlooking a busy street and their shared trajectories into film inspired many conversations and planning schemes regarding the types of stories they wanted to tell through a lens.
I Am Not A Weird Person was inspired by their shared physical living space as well as the emotional space the pair sometimes found themselves in independently and together during that phase in their lives. It was also written as a project they could create together in partnership. Molly and Marni are both emerging filmmakers who moving forward, are looking to build bodies of work that are engaging and challenging, striking and contemplative, humourous and relevant. This is the beginning! And you can be a part of making that happen.
The production of I Am Not A Weird Person was financed completely independently by the creative team. Now, as we are in post-production, the costs of putting the finishing touches on the film, from editing, music, colour correction and festival submissions, which will ensure IANAWP has a healthy life-cycle are looming.
What We Need
We are looking for $1800 to cover our finishing costs of hiring an editor, completing the film with colour correction, a small DVD run, festival submission costs, mailing costs and printing of promotional materials (cards, DVD inserts etc.)
If we do not make the full amount requested in this campaign, we will still be able to reach these goals, however, less festivals will be applied to.
Your contributions will enable us to reach further will this short film. We will be able to get the project further into festivals in Canada and the United States with your help.
We can't express how meaningful your support is to us and this project and how much we value your assistance in helping us achieve our goals for this project.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you are interested in helping us further, or don't have the funds to contribute at this time but still want to get involved, that is wonderful and very much appreciated! There are more ways to contribute:
- You can use the Indiegogo share tools to get the word out on FB, Twitter, Tumblr etc..
- Tell your mom, your cousin, your pals or use the campaign as an opening line with your hot neighbour who you've been dying to chat up. "Hey yo, wasssup, I saw this totally cool thing online I think you'd be into, plus you're hot..." You're welcome.
And that’s all there is to it.
Thanks SO MUCH!
With clean teeth and fresh breath,
The Weird Persons.
