We live in a culture where minorities aren't well-represented, if represented at all, by mainstream media. Film and television are dominated by primarily white, usually male, lead characters. When minorities are presented they usually act as tokens or sidekicks to their caucasian counterparts.
My name is Cherith Simmons. I'm a female African-American/Filipino director. It is my goal as a filmmaker to make substantial films with intriguing ethnic central characters and to do so by presenting culture without stereotypes.
I'm asking for your help in getting a voice heard that seems to be, for the most part, silent in mainstream cinema and television. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our campaign.

Plot
The short film is a semi-autobiographical story about a middle class multi-racial family in San Fernando Valley, CA. This vignette brings us into a day of this family's life as the audience witnesses the intricate dynamics of the household, told through the perspective of the youngest daughter, Laila.
