Short SummaryI'm Steven "Soulman" Snipes. A native of Memphis, TN currently residing in Nashville, TN. I wear several different hats related to the music industry. Some of those include artist, producer, songwriter, and promoter. Initially I didn't plan to take on all of those roles. However, when I 1st started I didn't have money to pay all of those different people to do those things so I learned through years of trial and error, studying, and shadowing how to do it myself. I'm grateful that I've had been privileged to work closely with some of the most talented people in the world. Some of the musicians that play with me are currently on tours with people ranging from Yo Gotti and K. Michelle to Miley Cyrus and Beyonce. These people care very deeply about the way music is presented in it's most pure form. There's no substitute for an outstanding live show. That's what this campaign is all about. Funding the best possible live show that we can do.
What We Need & What You Get
We need $20,000 to do the shows. The plan is to do 2 back to back shows every other month in Memphis and Nashville. Fridays in Nashville and Saturdays in Memphis (or vise versa).10k - 15k will go directly to the artist depending on what they're rate is (performance fee, transportation, lodging, ect). 3k will be allocated for advertising via web, TV, radio, outdoor media, and hand bills (flyers). The remainder will be allocated to manufacture merchandise (CDs, shirts, wristbands, posters, stickers, ect).
Everyone who donates will receive an advanced digital copy of my upcoming album along with a personal thank you message written by me. You'll also have an opportunity to attend an exclusive VIP meet and greet with the artist before the show for pics and autograph signings.
If the goal of $20,000 is not meet, we will scale back on the production and frequency of the shows but all money raised WILL be used to produce the best possible show that our budget will allow.
The ImpactThis campaign represents the voices of millions of people world wide who love music and want to go out and have a great time but are unsatisfied with what's being offered to them. We all hear people complain everyday about how limited the nightlife options are in Memphis and Nashville. There seems to be a very small group of people who dictate what we hear on the radio and how we experience nightlife. It's not that that there's nothing to do, the other people have very long pockets from other businesses that allow them to effectively promote to a lot more people than we currently have access to. That's it. I'm not saying that what they do is bad. I simply want to offer the people who'd like another option an opportunity to experience our brand of entertainment on an even playing field.
To add to that, we're hand selecting local emerging artist to pair with fan favorites from around the world to re-energize our own music industry. Over the past 3 - 5 years we've developed a reputation for having the absolute best independent artist from around the country perform at our shows with several of them going on to national notoriety. We take pride in saying that we've NEVER had a fight or unruly indecent at any of our functions. I've personally been on TV 3 times this year performing my original music and sold out the Hard Rock Cafe on world famous Beale St 2 times this year with me as the headliner. My last show was at the 1884 Lounge inside Minglewood Hall. We were near capacity and had media coverage from 4 states covering the concert. All of this was done with $0 budget. Everything that had to be paid came from myself and the musicians who played with me. On more than a few occasions, we sold out venues and left without gas money to make it home. We do what we do because we LOVE to do it. By helping me, you help so many others. These artist have families to feed and real responsibility. At least 30 people get paid whenever we do shows. That's creating jobs for people who may not otherwise have a skill or a legal means to earn a living. I used to be one of those people. It's not your responsibility to help anyone. However, if you have the ability to positively impact someone's life, why wouldn't you?
