My Show

My one woman autobiographical show centers around the aftermath of my 2010 drug facilitated rape and resulting rape kit that languished in the San Francisco Police Department crime lab storage for 2.5 years.

My show is about the human struggles we all go through:

  • finding courage to stand up for the truth
  • finding power after total powerlessness
  • finding forgiveness and love for oneself

You will leave feeling moved, inspired, and transformed.

Show Development

2011-12 - I wrote, self-produced and workshopped my show to audiences at Stagewerx, CounterPulse, and The Phoenix Theater, in San Francisco, CA.

May 2012 - Through my friends Kathy Altman and Lori Saltzman, I had the opportunity to perform my piece for 5 Rhythms creator, writer, and music and theater director, Gabrielle Roth! She signed on to develop and direct my show.

June - Oct 2012 - I worked intensively in NYC with Gabrielle to rewrite the entire script and develop musical elements using both my vocals and violin.

October 23, 2012 - Gabrielle Roth passed away.

Current- I have been devastated by the loss of my director, creative partner, teacher, supporter, and friend.

But I remain committed to performing my show and seeing one of Gabrielle's last theater projects through to completion. She loved and stood fiercely by the work we were doing together and she wanted the project to carry on!

The Show MUST go on with Your Contribution and Support!

I am currently in discussion with several reputable directors (TBA) who are interested in developing and staging my show where Gabrielle left off.

Your tax-deductible donation will help fund this next important step. (Yep, you can write this donation off come tax time!)

My overall project budget is $73,200. I have raised over 10K already!

The $17K we raise together on Indiegogo will help to cover these CRUCIAL upcoming expenses: *Directing Fees *Rehearsal Space Rental *Sound, Lighting, and Multi-Media Design.

Once HGR:( is performance ready, it will have a theatrical run and then tour at high schools, colleges, women's centers, women's correctional facilities, and theaters at large.

Why Your Contribution Matters

I'll let Gabrielle's vision speak to the importance of ensuring that HGR:( moves forward and is seen by as many people possible:

"Heather, You are a person who experienced violence against herself that was harrowing, confusing, brutal, and ultimately was handled in the most bizarre way imaginable by a major police department.

You are telling this story. A storyteller.

You are a statistic and along the way you discovered you are not alone but have sisters everywhere who have also been shelved...squeezed into numbers in a machine.

You are speaking for all of us.

The creative task for us is to tell this story in the most compelling, direct, vulnerable, truthful, funny, feisty, furious, fragile, way possible so you catalyze the audience, the listener to think, to feel, to act - to raise their voice to change this for you and your sisters."

Your donation is helping to create art in the name of social change, awareness, education, and human rights. In addition to feeling good about being a do-gooder, I've got some great rewards for you as well!
