OVERVIEW

HERO Racing (HELPING EVERYONE REACH OUT) is in the home stretch of doing something incredible and needs your support!  This coming November 14-17, the HERO Racing team is entered into the most grueling off-road race in the world...  The SCORE International Baja 1000!

What makes this different than any other team, is that one of our 3 race bikes is the first all-amputee team in the race's history.  We we are racing as a 100% non-profit fundraiser to bring a fortunate recipient a prosthetic leg.  

The Challenged Athletes Foundation helped us find this amazing individual.  He is a very athletic 10 year old boy, Nicholas Knotts, from Michigan in need of a prosthetic leg to participate in a full and active lifestyle. Like the rest of us, he's 100% human.  Just missing a part.

Over the past 10 months, the HERO Racing team has worked tirelessly.  We've been wheeling and dealing to get parts, 3 brand new 2012 Honda CRF450x race bikes with pit support, FOX Shox suspension and FMF exhaust system.  We have satellite phones, high-powered lights for dangerous night riding, GPS and a over 20 dedicated volunteers driving their trucks and chasing the bikes for safety and assistance.

So far, over $80,000 in equipment and services have been donated by 40 companies, including a $30,000 prosthetic leg donated by Wright / Filippis and Ossur.  What are we missing?  YOU!

WHAT WE NEED & WHAT YOU GET

Now, that we have the bikes, parts, support team and determination to accomplish an amazing feat, we humbly need to raise money to cover the hard costs associated with pre-running (practicing) and racing the bikes over 1,000 off-road miles in Baja California:

• Hotels 
• Gas
• Insurance
• Food
• Emergency services

Our goal is to raise $18,600 to cover these costs and have put together some fun packages in return for your appreciated support.  With that said, we have 3 requests:

To ensure all money raised is directly and specifically spent on mission, we formed a California corporation and will have all receipts and records on file for complete transparency.  We also recently applied for federal non-profit organization status to enable HERO Racing to grow and help more individuals for years to come.

If, for any reason, we fall short of our goal, HERO Racing will be very grateful for what was raised and use every cent towards this wonderful cause.  If we exceed our goal, the additional funds will be used to enter additional races and acquire more prosthetics!
