We are Hemoptysis (He-mop-ti-sis) from Tempe, Arizona. We have been together for five and a half years. In that time we have accomplished a lot. We released an EP in 2008 called "Who Needs a Shepherd?" that received almost 40 possitive reviews. We released a full length album in 2011 called "Misanthropic Slaughter" with producer Ryan Green (Megadeth, NOFX, Alice Cooper) that received almost 70 positive reviews and more than one rating of "Best Album of the Year" for 2011. We made two music videos in support of the album for the songs "Shadow of Death" and "M.O.D." We were signed to Rock It Up Records out of Germany in 2011. We received two Phoenix Music Awards for "Metal Artist of the Year" in 2009 and 2010. We won the Independent Music Award in 2012 for "Best Metal Song" for "M.O.D."
We are very proud of our accomplishments but we don't want to stop there. We have recently written some of the best songs in the history of our band. The new material is heavier, faster, the musicianship has stepped up a couple notches and the lyrics are very personal to us. We are very proud of what we did on our full length album but we are confident we can make a recording of this new material even better. We don't just want to record this album, we NEED to record this album, but we need your help.
We want to record a five song EP of all new material and re-record two songs from the "Who Needs a Shepherd?" EP for a special promtional release. We have saved up a good chunk of money to do this, but we don't have nearly enough to cover all the expenses such as recording, production, mixing, mastering, artwork, photography, liner notes, and CD pressing. We need $6,000 and only your contributions will help us make this happen. We have created a donation list with some really cool rewards for everyone that donates. There is some unique, one of a kind memorabilia available like signed drum heads from the recording of the "Misanthropic Slaughter" full length album, signed drum head and broken cymbals from the "M.O.D." music video, T-shirts worn in the "M.O.D." music video, a huge Hemoptysis banner with the "Who Needs A Shepherd?" EP artwork that we used on stage, and much more. You could get a private show or a jam session with the band, or even a private BBQ with the band where we will cook for you! You could be listed as the executive producer on the album, or do your own personal mix of one of the new songs that no one else will have! If we don't raise the full amount for this fundraiser your donations will still be used to record the new 5-song EP of all new material but it will either take a lot longer for us to save up the money ourselves or we will have to abandon the plan to re-record the two songs from the "Who Needs A Shepherd?" EP. Either way, this EP of all new material will be recorded and released but your donations will help us do it this year with enough money to make it a quality recording that will do these amazing songs justice.
