The holidays are a time for many of us to reflect and to give thanks for our many blessings.
In August 2012 my Uncle Tommy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Squamous Cancer. He is terminal.
His family needs your help. He has been unable to work during his illness and he has been unable to provide for my Aunt Doreen and my cousins, Angelo and Tommy Jr. My aunt and uncle are kind, responsible, loving parents who after having raised four children already— they adopted their young grandchildren in 2006 and have been raising them ever since. Tommy Jr. is 8 and Angelo is 5 years old and has asthma. My uncle sold his car for money, and because they live outside of the school zone, the school bus won’t pick up the boys. So my aunt walks them 2 miles there and 2 miles back.
They are set to be evicted from their home November 30thunless they pay BLAH in back rent. He has entered outpatient hospice and wants to spend every moment with his family. My uncle is in tremendous pain, he is bedridden, and beyond stressed about the family’s future. He owned his own business and was such a hard worker, but he never started a life insurance policy.
The money will help Uncle Tommy house his family and fund future uncertain illness related costs.
I realize that this is a lot to ask, however, the situation is quite desperate. I hope you will grasp the severity of my Uncle’s situation and show compassion through your generosity. Any amount will help.
Wishing you and your family all the best this holiday season.
