The Greenville Makers Group is a group of techies, artists, thinkers and more. If you make things and like to share them we're here for you. Our goal of building a trans-disciplinary group focused on skillsharing and multigenerational community is becoming a reality.
GMG is moving into the new space at 2 N. Main which will be home to the group and all the nifty knowlege and toys that people bring to it.
We want everyone in Greenville to have a chance to have access to make, create, discuss, dream and use all the technolgoy and tools the communtiy has to offer to achieve these things. In tools and knowlege and emotional supportive encourgement.
What We Need & What You Get
To christen our new space we want to buy an Ultimaker 3D Printer Kit.
The orginal version of the Ultimaker was built in a similar space to what we are trying to achieve in Greenville. We are very excited about getting a kit and building it together and what new inventions may come out of it.
Right now we have a few members of the group that have generously done demos for our group and other community associsations but will need to keep their equipment on a limited use basis.
Building the kit from scratch will allow for even better understanding of the workings of 3D printing from the inside out.
By participating in helping fund
$5 - Good vibes and love from all the robot makers and shakers. Thanked on our twitter and facebook!
$10 - Thanks on a special page on our website as well as the twitter and facebook and Good vibes!
$25 - A 3D printed Thanks! Keychain, Pair of 3D printed earrings or a Sierpinski pyramid (triangles upon triangles upon trianles that build a pyramid)
$100 - Custom 3D printed name
$500 - Custom 3D printed name and simple object from personal sketch
$1000 - Custom 3D printed name and simple object from personal sketch and personal tutor to take sketch from paper to completion.
If we overfund, we will buy more 3D printed related things that would add to the ultimaker experience. One example being a possible second extruder head for two color printing.
If we underfund, depending on the amount it may be put into a smaller lower resolution, slower printer (please help us get our dream kit!) - If that isn't an option funds will be put towards smaller kits such as Minty Boost (cell phone charger in a mint tin) or other community projects.
Building a dedicated Ulimaker for the space will allow the larger community to have access to a 3D printer and create rapid protoypes and objects of their own designs. It will bring ideas to life in new ways and help personal and professional dreams become realized. Nothing is more exciting for a community than seeing this happen and being able to support each other in this happening.
Also, The Ultimaker is faster, produces higher quality prints and is more easily modified than any of the printers our group members currently have. This will be a huge asset moving forward.
