Get to know what we are all about
At one point or another, most people visit a preserved historic site, either it’s a battlefield, a home, or a location where some other event occurred. And when every people see them they go “wow…I just saw it the way it looked so long ago” but many people also pass by un preserved locations every day and either don’t notice them or they just don’t care because they are not in the best of shape and are not appealing to the eye, this happens much more often in the United States than anywhere else in the world, in places like Europe, old and historic places are converted into new places, such as Restaurants , Inns, Banks, and other entertainment places. But in America they are left to rot. This is where we come in. The American Legacy and Conservation Foundation is designed to rescue and preserve those places that have either been over looked or forgotten. Our goal is to turn these places back into what they once were with some minor changes; we add facilities and tools to make it an exciting and educational experience for children to seniors. We also award grants to other organizations and locations that need more financial aid. We have also recently added a new program that we are hoping to start in December, this program is designed to help teach young children how they can leave a legacy, and we will also award grants and scholarships to students who have already been leaving a legacy in their school, church and community.
What We Need & What You Get For Your Money
The American Legacy and Conservation Foundation was founded in early September of 2012, and we would like to incorporate, make a website and begin giving out grants and working on some projects, but we have no funds with which to start. We need about $5000 so that we can grow and do the previously listed things. Our perks include a handmade thank you card, full year memberships at a reduced price, your name on our new website as charter member, your name on the wall at our headquarters, and more!
Even if we do not reach our goal we will use whatever we get to make the website and incorporate the foundation and we will use the rest in grants, however if we make more than we will begin the process of purchasing Fort Carroll or Fort Howard as our first project.
Your Contributions Go Farther
As the years have gone by places like Colonial Williamsburg, Montpelier, Mt. Vernon and many other historic places have had to try and find new ways to bring schools to them because public schools are doing less and less with history and some schools don’t even teach history anymore. Your contributions will go to bringing back schools to historic places by making them more student oriented.
About five years ago I went around Maryland and Virginia and Pennsylvania to all of the historic areas and their museums we less than student oriented and interesting, but now five years later I have gone back around to these places and they are totally different, they have made it interesting, fun, creative, and overall student oriented. However there are still places that need a lot of help and that is what we will do with your contributions.
