Me In A Nutshell
Hey! I'm Jeph and I'm a film student at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I'm also the Marketing Assistant at Enzian Theater, central Florida's only not-for-profit, art-house cinema and home of the Florida Film Festival, an internationally acclaimed event. My career goals after graduating are to work in the distribution and marketing of independent films (I've currently got my heart set on Oscilloscope Laboratories in NY or Music Box Films in Chicago). I'm also fascinated with the way the film festival circuit works. I played a huge part in marketing one specific film (Obselidia) during FFF 2010, and I've been having a blast as a member of the marketing team for FFF 2011.
However, every festival offers something different to its patrons. FFF is a great place to meet and socialize with filmmakers and some industry professionals, but the big deals are rarely made here in central Florida. SXSW will be a great opportunity for me to mingle with distributors and get a much better idea of how the film festival process really works. I'm also hoping to develop some relationships that will lead to career opportunities down the road.
What I Need
Let's face it, I'm a college student with little to no income and obviously the SXSW experience will not be a cheap one. This $1,300 campaign is one of practicality, meant to offset my out of pocket expenses for the necessities of the trip. Here is an itemized list of all the purchases this campaign will be used for:
- Plane Ticket - $251
- SXSW Industry Badge - $375
- Hotel - $600
What You Get
Your donations will be used to increase my experience in the post-post-production of independent film and help create new gateways into an industry I hope to earn a living in after graduating from school this summer.
