Who are we?
CampInteractive (CI) is a Bronx-based nonprofit that inspires underprivileged inner-city youth through the creative power of technology.
At CI, students are transitioned from consumers of media to creative and critically thinking producers. Through learning coding, photography, videography, website building, and blogging, students are able to cultivate a voice that will be heard and seen through various channels. These skills are then used to document their personal journey in exciting outdoor adventures such as: surfing, hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding, sailing, camping, and more.
At the conclusion of this intensive program, CI students are given the opportunity to intern at top NYC technology companies -- giving them the real-world experience that will ensure success.
Who do we serve?
CI operates in one of New York City’s poorest neighborhoods where the income and education quality are at their worst. In our community:
- 40% of households live below the Poverty Line
- 25% of households subsist on less than $10,000 annually
- The average student to teacher ratio is 35:1
Did you know that:
- Less than 60% of minorities have access to the internet due digital divide
- Less than 12% of Bachelors Degrees in Computer Sciences are earned by minorities
We know these stats. We firmly believe that teaching hard skills in web development, IT, quality assurance, and creative technology disciplines to this demographic is the best way to break the cycle of poverty.
We also understand that students need more than skills to succeed, they also need the courage to use their abilities.
Our year round programs support, educuate and inspire kids to view the world as a limitless pool of possibility.
