(A message from David)
For the past 7 months it has been an honor and privilege to be able to share with you just a sample of what I'm capable of. I am forever grateful for all of the support I've been given since Vigilante Leather first opened it's doors and I'm thankful for all the kind words that have been said and shared about my work. What's been most memorable of all was getting to meet so many new people from all over the world. The Playstation, Naughty Dog and Uncharted community welcomed me with open arms and it has definitely been a pleasure to meet the people I have - Some of whom have become true friends. I am still honored that my shop was accepted by the fans because without you none of my success would have been possible. I've always said that my shop was made by a fan for the fans and I'll always stay true to that. Being a fan myself working on these designs has been such an amazing experience. Each and everything I make I put my heart and soul into the project because that's just how strongly I care about what I'm making and who I'm making it for(The Fans). Each design I work on I know I have to catch every last detail and doing so has made my work that much more of a success. You all helped make Vigilante Leather and you continue to make it grow even stronger everyday. I thank each and every one of you for your help in making my dreams come true. Again I'm so very grateful that I get to share all of this with you but now I need to share something a little more personal. Writing this message today was not only to thank you for all of your continued support but to also let you know what my current situation is. Right now I am currently suffering from Stomach Cancer and to be completely honest this is the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. Even sharing this with you is extremely hard on me because in case anything happens I only wanted to be remembered for my work and not my illness. I know that might sound dumb to some of you but it's a fear that's been holding me back from making any type of earlier announcement. Everyone has their fears and this one is a big one for me. Lately though I've gotten much worse and nothing seems to be working out for me. It's put a halt on my work and I'm struggling more then ever to deal with this pain ever single day. I've tried everything to get healthy but since starting and the way I feel now it's all felt like a complete waste. I've got one more shot at this and I'm afraid it's my last go. Without this my odds aren't good at all according to my doctor. Unfortunately the cost of this procedure is extremely unreasonable and it's due to my age and the severity of my condition. Being able to work from only my shop due to my illness I don't have any type of health insurance to help out and now not being able to work as much as I was I have no money coming in. I've been able to save as much as I could but it's still not been able to make a dent. I've had a few people suggest that I start a fundraiser to help out and right now given how many other options I've tried this seems like my only bet. I've done my research and I've seen how these fundraisers have worked out for people in need and I can only pray that this can help me in my time of need. How things are going I know I had to face my fear and ask for help and I'm doing just that. All I ask is that as soon as the fundraiser is up you help out in anyway you can whether it be spreading the word to anyone that is willing to help or just just sharing it on any of your Facebook, Twitter or any other page you feel will reach a bigger audience. Through out the fundraiser there will be updates on how things are going whether directly from me or one of my Vigilante Leather Partners. Also I will be updating my pages with never before seen designs as giveaways to those who help out the most. Also for those of you that donate I will be giving a sneak peak and first dibs on some of my next years Big Releases. I know when I survive this I still have so much to share with the world and I cannot wait for that opportunity. Again I just want to thank you again for all of your continued support and for those of you who are the praying type I can use all the help I can get.

Testimonials from friends and fans of David and Vigilante Leather.
"The first time I ever saw David's work I was amazed; the perfection and attention to detail in his work impressed me so much. Being the creator of a blog dedicated to Uncharted, I shared his work with others and spread the word about him; sure enough they all loved it. I had the pleasure of finally meeting David at PAX Prime in Seattle this year (2012) and I'll admit, I wasn't expecting to see such young talent behind the Uncharted masterpieces (created). David is an amazing person; he's caring and thoughtful and extremely nice, and I couldn't be happier to have met such a wonderful person who is as enthusiastic about Uncharted as I am."

After meeting David when buying one of his watches, it was immediately apparent how hugely passionate he is about his top-notch leather work. I found soon after that his passion extends to art and learning at large. It's always inspiring just how much he loves his work. It doesn't matter what the time of day, what amount of work or life's stresses, he always impresses me with his unwavering enthusiasm and dedication to bettering himself and his artistic skills. On top of that, David is just a phenomenal dude. Probably a little too generous, always happy to chat and he constantly has a cheerful outlook on things, so I can always look to David to brighten the day a bit. Go Vigilante!

David is one of those people you feel like you have known forever and can instantly connect with. I have only known him for two short months but it was a pleasure meeting him this year at PAX Prime. We experienced great things there and rubbed elbows with the people who inspire us. We have become great friends since then, having many of the same dreams and interests in common. I never would have guessed what he had gone through by the way he carries himself. He has shown me nothing but kindness and it reflects in his craft. Those of you who know David know how great his drawings and leatherwork is. There has been one too many people in my life that have fought cancer and not everyone lived to tell the tale. I hope David makes it to our list of survivors! I know that if he beats this thing there isn’t anything he can’t accomplish.

I had the pleasure of meeting David Vigil, owner of Vigilante Leather, in June of 2012 after seeing pictures of his amazing craftwork online. I remember browsing the internet, searching for ways to make Nathan Drake's bandolier from Uncharted 3, when all of a sudden I see what is literally THE in-game object in real life! At that moment, I knew I had to contact the artist responsible. Upon contacting him, we quickly became friends and he eventually shed light on the amazingly creative and artistic thought processes that go on in his brain. What he told me was astonishing. He hand crafts every facet and detail in his works. David is an adept metalworker and leatherman, who scratch makes every component of his designs and makes the props and costumes that we see in games come to life. He is one of the few people in the world who pours his heart and soul into his craft, taking no shortcuts, and sparing no expense to create the perfect pieces. He is an artisan and an inspiration who unfortunately, needs our help. I refuse to let the world lose such a talented and generous individual as David Vigil, who has many more gifts to bestow. Every little bit helps, let's SAVE THE VIGILANTE!
