Help save Arnie

Help Save Arnie by contributing to his surgery fund

Arnie's Story:

Arnie is a fun loveing mini-poodle that has the stamina of a 4 year old, is a great doorbell, can leap very small toy buildings, snores in his sleep, burps after eating, hoards all the doggie biscuits, steals the cats food, plays with ropes, balls, and of all things, rocks, is a permanent shadow to his mom and most of all loves her with all his heart.

Arnie started off his life by house jumping. His origional owner was abusive and used him soley for breeding purposes. One day his owner dropped him off with a neighbor and never returned. Sadly, she too was unable to give him the care he deserved as she was unable to care for both her pets as well as him. She seeked the help of others and thats when he was finally, after 4 years of moving around, found his home with Rose.

Arnie would jump, whimper and run from people and their loud voices, quick movements and touchy hands. He was not socialized nor trained. Being a poodle he needed to be groomed frequently to prevent snagging and skin problems and had aquired pancreitis from his poor eating habits from his previous owners. These "problems" as most people would consider them, Rose took on with the love and care that he had never experienced. She worked with him, trained him, put him on a special diet, and calls him her little boy as he has taken on a very human personality. Arnie can now be touched without shying away, loves other animals, including cats, and has a wardrobe any girl dog would be envious of. Arnie has a home.

The Accident:

Sat. March 9th Arnie was in the back yard playing a game of fetch with Rose when all of a sudden he stopped and stood still, unmoving for what seemed forever. When he finally started to move his tail was down, his back was hunched, and he couldn't move his neck. Every movement was precise and thought out. When he got to the stairs he cried out in pain at the first step. Rose initially thought it was his pancreitis acting up so she started to give him his medications. As the next day arrived his pain had gotten worse, he wouldn't stop crying, he refused to leave his crate even to use the bathroom. Rose rushed him to the Vetrinary hospital to learn that it wasn't his pancreitis, but his neck. Arnie had ruptured the disk in his neck causing immense pain. Arnie has been put on muscle relaxants, pain medication, and a restricted diet/movements. His bills have already started piling up and the prognosis of his condition is becoming frightening. The Vet has said that if he doesn't show improvement soon he will need surgery and it will cost much more than Rose can afford.

Why We Need Your Help:

Rose is retired, a senior citizen and disabled from a car accident living on a restricted budget. She has already gone past what she can afford to pay for his medications and the now 3 vetrenary visits for Arnie's neck. Rose and her family have researched all avenues for  assisting in paying for Arnie's neck surgery, but because of the economy humane societies and veterinarian hospitals are unable to help. We have gone as far as to see if a humane society would adopt him to pay for his care so he wouldn't have to be put down but we have been turned away.

What we need:

We need to raise $6,000.00 to pay for Arnie's neck surgery to repair his ruptured disk.

All donations will go to Arnie's neck surgery and medications. Any money left over will go to other animals in need.

We understand that this is a time sensitive matter. If we are unable to raise enough funds in time or if Arnie could no longer take the pain, all monies will be donated to another family pet that is in the same situation in hopes that another life could be saved.

The Impact:

By donating to help save Arnie you will be not only contributing to saving his life and repairing his disk, you will also have the love and everlasting gratitude of Rose, Lola and the rest of his loving family.

Other Ways You Can Help:

If you are unable to contribute money to our cause, please go to your local animal shelter or humane society and donate your time and love to animals in need. If you have a pets of your own, tell them you love them, play with them, give them kisses and cherish every moment they are with you. They will love you in return.
