Hello, I am Vandi Frame-Arnold, Craig Maddy's Mom.  Craig is my only child and has been, from the moment he was born six weeks too soon, a handful but the cutest and best son a mother could wish to have.

Craig was a great kid growing up.  He really was the all American boy: into sports, bugs, creepy things, exploring swamps, riding his bike around, playing with his dog or collecting sticks to make into a creative variety of spears and swords.  He always had questions and was quite intellectually curious from a young age.  Ethics and being a good citizen were topics of especial interest to Craig, who has always held himself to the highest standards.

An example of Craig's character which sums him up is his volunteering to stay an extra 6 weeks in Afghanistan so that another Marine could rush to his ailing father's side.  When Craig told me the news, he said he just couldn't bear the shame if he didn't stand up when asked.

Corporal Craig Scott Maddy, USMC was brutally attacked and shot in the head by persons unknown in the early hours of December 6, 2012 in the small town of Desert Hot Springs CA.  He was stationed in 29 Palms USMC Base after returning in October 2012 from deployment to Afghanistan, where he worked as a machine gunner and went on over 300 combat missions including heavy participation in Operation Jaws.

Craig has been described as the "heart and soul" of his company, the Suicide Charley's of the 1/7, and he personifies the term "good Marine." He is selfless, modest, driven and extremely goal oriented.

Craig's Dad (John) and Mom (Vandi) were told he would not survive the day after he was shot, but four weeks later he continues to defy the odds by improving steadily albeit very slowly as is typical with this type of traumatic brain injury.

Craig has always been a real go-getter and it was clear to all that he would excel at any path he chose; therefore his parents are determined to gather the funds necessary to ensure Craig receive the best possible recovery care to help him overcome what was termed a "non recoverable wound."  Craig will have many needs, first and foremost being a home to live in.

Craig's Mom loves him with all her heart and he is her only child. While she is quite willing, in fact honored, to care for Craig, she also is aging and won't live forever. So Craig will need funds enough to be cared for professionally if need be, for the rest of his life.

Everyone who knows Corporal Maddy thinks he will not only survive this horrific attack, but will make a full recovery. But it is always best to only hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Therefore Craig Maddy's Dad and Mom humbly ask you to contribute financially as much as you can easily afford in order to help a young Marine injured by bad men for no reason.  He needs a home to live in and funds to support him.

Thank you so much for your generosity. May God's Blessing be upon you all!
