Kim MacKenzie, Miss Norway 2014, aims to help the world in the Queen of the Universe Charity Pageant to support UNESCO & global education
Who is Kim MacKenzie?
Great question, my friend! I am a multi-passionate entrepreneur, in the worlds of film and fitness. I am a screenwriter, actress, health advocate, pilates and fitness instructor, humanitarian, President and spokeswoman of The Body Archer...and, of course, Miss Norway 2014.
As an entertainer, I love being able to communicate happiness and positive, thought-provoking messages through the movies that I write or act in...whether it's a romantic comedy that makes you feel warm and fuzzy, or a zombie film that takes you away from reality for a while, or a thought-provoking thriller, that causes you to think about love and justice. I hope to enlighten people to our own humanity, while also giving you some good giggles.
My first feature as a screenwriter, BRO', about an impressionable kid who gets caught up in the hard-partying, drug-infused world of freestyle motocross, was distributed by Lionsgate in December 2012. (You can get it as a perk for donating!)
As a health advocate, I love helping people see the true potential for awesomeness in their bodies through proper nutrition and exercise. And, no matter if you're just starting on your health journey or are a fitness fanatic, I will be your cheerleader! My inspiring health writing has been featured in Spafinder Wellness 365, Become Natural, Classtivity, Hearts of Gold, and The Care Co.
Though my work as President of The Body Archer, I am able to help millions of people across America relieve back pain with our doctor-recommended rockin' back stretching chair. The Body Archer Back Stretching Chair, was named Editor's Pick by Spafinder's Holiday Gift Guide as well as Spry Living's Hot Mother's Day Gifts for Fit Moms in 2013. It has been featured on CNN, Daytime TV, The Health Talk, NPR, The Miami Herald, Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, The Street, Yahoo Finance, Reuters, Fitness Reloaded, and the Chicago Daily Herald. (You can get one as a perk for donating too!)
How did Kim come to be Miss Norway?
My heritage from my mother's side is Norwegian. My great-great grandparents immigrated to America from Norway in the 1800s. For the Queen of the Universe pageant, you either have to be born in the country you represent or have blood from it.
What is the Queen of the Universe Pageant?
Queen of the Universe unites the intelligence and beauty of woman around the world in search of the perfect ambassador of love, hope, and peace. The woman crowned "queen" will promote awareness to help the less privileged and will be a great ambassador of humanity and a role model for young women around the world.
The Queen of the Universe will promote education for children in need, and for children in third world countries, as well as work with various charities and nonprofits around the world.
- The Mission: Queen of the Universe believes that by giving children a good education we empower them to become better human beings and make their dreams into a reality, therefore, making our next generations much stronger and more determined. We believe education is the most important thing you can give someone to better their circumstances.
- Charitable Alliance: UNESCO is the United nations Education Science and Cultural Organization. Queen of the Universe highly believes in the UNESCO motto, "Teach a child how to fish, and you'll feed him his entire life."
WHY DOES KIM BELIEVE THIS IS IMPORTANT?
I believe we are all put on this beautiful earth to serve a greater purpose. If I am crowned Queen, it would give me a larger platform to help inspire others to find their purpose as well. I am already using my Miss Norway title to help bring awareness to Brides with Breast Cancer, the Spark Program, Free Arts, and helping promote the NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) walk in San Diego, CA on February 22.
I believe the title of Queen of the Universe, and/or just the exposure of being in the pageant, will help me bring more light to the many important causes I already support, as well as give me more insight into other important issues facing the world today.
USE OF FUNDS
In order to compete, I need to raise $4000. $3000 goes to the pageant's production expenses. Then, after cost, they donate the rest to UNESCO. The other $1000 is for additional pageant and advertising expenses. Everything left over will go directly to UNESCO and other global education programs.
All profits from the pageant production also go directly to UNESCO's global education programs. So it's a win-win-win for education!
