My name is Matt Townsend. I'm a songwriter, singer, guitar and harmonica player living in Asheville, NC
Over the past year I have been recording my debut LP backed by a full band.
I am raising funds to enable the successful release of this album into the world.
Additionally, 10% of the money raised will go to Arts for Life, A nonprofit organization providing art therapy for people suffering from illness or disabilities.

Review of the EP:
What We Need & What You Get
In essence, what I am asking personally from you in this campaign, is to invest in my potential as an artist and to help me to establish my career.
By raising these funds, I'm hoping to gain the ability to release this album in a manner that sets it up for the most success.
What the money is for:$1,200-$2,500 for publishing cd's
$2,000-3,000 to hire a publicist
Perhaps the true "perk" for giving to this fundraiser, more than the material things you will receive, is the knowledge that you are helping me as an artist to establish my career, so that I can do what I love in a sustainable way.
*For those who
pledged $10 at the first campaign, a $15 donation here gets you the
Limited Edition CD
*For those who donated $25, a $10 Donation here gets you a Limited Edition CD
(just leave a note when you donate)
In hiring a publicist who is connected to the music industry, the hope is to spread the word of the album amongst the media, garner some reviews and hopefully some radio airplay. The hope is that these reviews will be positive, and more and more people will find out about the music. It would be a real shame not only for me, but for everyone who has invested so much in this record to not give it the best shot that it can to succeed.
Creating music for me has been literally a life saving
enterprise. Writing songs and playing music has helped me survive
some of the darkest times of my life. I am so grateful to be able to
do it at all, because there was a time when I couldn't. It is
difficult sometimes for people to see the work that goes into being
an artist in the world. There are countless hours of unseen work, practicing
in secret, trying out songs far away from critical minds, finding out
who you are as an artist as well as a person, and all the while trying not to make too
much sense of it anyways.
I'm offering this work to the world, knowing that I'm putting forth my best work, and I hope that it connects with people. It's a confusing world in the music industry these days, but I believe that if we put this album into the right hands, it can connect with a lot of people. In addition to the money going towards this record, we are teaming up with Arts for Life, an organization providing art education programs for people suffering from serious illness or disabilities. 10% of the money raised will go to this organization.
To me, creating art is ultimately about serving others. It is taking our individual experience and expression and giving it to the world in hopes that the world may better understand itself, or at least, feel something. Creating art can bring about remarkable healing, and organizations like this are bringing that ability to the people that need it most.
NOTE: Indiegogo charges only 4% if we reach the fundraising goal, but 9% if we do not.
Basically, 3,500 = 3,255 if we reach our goal
Other Ways You Can Help
Please, please spread the word. I know some of you contributed to
the initial campaign and I am so grateful for that. If you are unable
to contribute any more, sharing this campaign is far and away the most
helpful thing you can do. Please help spread the word to anybody and everybody.
