Our Story

We are SMA: Sailor Moon Abridged, the popular abridged series on Youtube and Blip.tv.  For five years we've been poking fun at the Sailor Moon universe which we all know and love, but now we want to expand into the live-action world of feature films.  Now, we want to make the first ten minutes of our very own live-action Sailor Moon Movie.

Our goal is to modernize the concept of the animated show and manga, while still remaining true to the story everyone loves.  Our script has been written by an award-winning producer/screenwriter, and we gave an amazing production team which will help us bring this project to life.  With so many talented people working on this, we can't go wrong!

The Impact

What does a live-action Sailor Moon movie mean for the SM-fan-community at large?  Well, our goal is to make the video go viral and to garner a lot of attention, hopefully from the right people.  Take the fan-made Mortal Kombat trailer; it was posted on Youtube, went viral, and got enough attention that its creator is now being paid to make further webisodes.  We hope to have a similar effect with our Sailor Moon trailer!  Hey, you never know...maybe something like this project will pave the way for a re-release of the series in America!  (Funimation is bidding for it, maybe all they need is incentive!)

What We Need & What You Get

We are asking for $2500 to cover the costs associated with this project: our biggest costs will be costumes (the iconic Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask outfits), makeup, and makeup prosthetic creation/application, as we will be catching a glimpse of one of the infamous SM-universe monsters in this trailer.

Other costs include food and transportation costs, costs of permits, rental costs, and payment for creation of some super special effects.  In exchange for your generous donations, you will receive any of a number of amazing prizes, which are listed to the right of this, on the Prize/Donate Sidebar.  Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated, and we hope that you'll get as excited about a *well-done* live-action Sailor Moon as we are!

Other Ways You Can Help

The single biggest way you can help this campaign is to spread the word!  Tell all your Sailor Moon-fan friends and family, and let them know that something big is on the horizon for the SMA team!  Let them know that a great live-action trailer is on its way, and that if they help this trailer get funded, perhaps we can raise money and secure the rights to fund a full-length feature as well!
