we find our way to a greater good."

It's a way of thinking. If it isn't going to change the world, let's move on. That's how to live. Let's live like that.

A graphic designer who has been unemployed for over a year, I've worked really hard at the job hunt, to no avail. I can't keep waiting and hoping for the job market to turn around I need to MAKE something happen. I have lots
of ideas, passion, commitment to social change, motivation and creativity. Just need a kick start to get some forward motion going, and I believe the perfect kick start is to participate in the Impact:
Design for Social Change intensive 6-week program at School of Visual
Arts this summer. (It's in July and happens to coincide with my 40th birthday. Ack!!!) The
only caveat is the program costs $6,000. This is where you come in, and where I get humble and ask for help.
During the program I will
concept a project that is rooted in my community and that will directly,
positively impact people's lives. My ideas are not solidified yet, but the project will have something to do with the issues that are most important to me: LGBT rights, animal rescue and shelter
adoption, and/or community improvement (i.e., anti-littering education
in Brooklyn). My project will be developed and implemented directly following the
SVA workshop, thanks to my newly-acquired social entrepreneurship skills, and new connections with other design activists.
What You Get
Should you choose to be one of the wonderful, generous people who donates to my education fund, you will be empowering a talented designer to evolve her career in a more thriving and progressive direction, and to more effectively help others. (You'll also be giving me the best birthday present EVER!!) Along with the satisfaction of helping out, and my immense gratitude, you will receive:
- a personal thank you card handmade by me (donation of $10 or more)
- a signed, limited-edition print by me (donation of $40 or more)
- prominent donor acknowledgment on my project's web site (donation of $100 or more)
- additional rewards to be determined when project is developed (will keep you posted).
In addition, you get my promise of support for your next project. I'll gladly donate time and/or funding as much as I can. I firmly believe in collective cooperation and crowdfunding as a viable solution to launching projects and initiatives that otherwise wouldn't have a chance.

Other Relevant Things About Me:
? I have donated my time to the Fort Greene Association, I am experienced in community involvement, project development and want to pursue this further.
? I donate my time to a vet practice and fostering non-profit, I adopt abandoned and shelter animals (currently have 2 chihuahuas, 2 cats and a cockatiel) and care deeply about animal welfare.
What All of the Above Add Up To:
I am creative, passionate, caring, driven and want to create change for the better. All I need is the funding to attend this intensive Design for Social Change program so that I can properly concept, develop, fund and implement a project that combines my design skills and the social issues I'm committed to.
Other Ways You Can Help
If making a monetary contribution is not possible, you can help for FREE by spreading the word to friends and colleagues. Use the SHARE tools (under the video) for this campaign to forward via email and to share on Facebook. All trackable interactivity will help me gain prominence on IndieGoGo.com and to increase traffic.
P.S. If the full tuition is not raised by the April 30th deadline and I'm unable to attend the Design for Social Change program at SVA, all funds raised will be applied toward interactive and web design classes at either Noble Desktop or 3rd Ward. Either way, be assured that every penny of your donations will be applied toward career-related education.
P.P.S. All contributors, please be sure to provide your mailing address so I can send your goodies!!
