The Port of Long Beach was our community partner last year and produced this video that we know you will enjoy.  This year's community partner is the University Art Museum at CSULB.

We seek your support to help us create a lifetime of memories for 3^rd grade students in Long Beach, California.  These students participate in our 15-week Eye on Design, public art education program which culminates in creating an original artwork – a beautiful mosaic created by all the students.

WHAT IS EYE ON DESIGN?

Like you, we know that learning about the arts can enhance a child’s ability to ‘learn how to learn’; it can develop skills of persistence and teamwork; it can enhance the school experience for students - sustaining their interest and enthusiasm for learning; and it can nurture empathy and foster imagination through experiences that the arts uniquely provide.

For at least 450 third graders a year in the Long Beach Unified School District, the first memories contemplating and creating art will be formed in Eye on Design. The fifteen-week program, implemented by the Arts Council for Long Beach, exposes children to public art. Held to incredibly high standards, the third grade students learn about civic involvement, critical thinking, visual literacy, creative problem solving, Long Beach history, and most importantly public art—a vital part of our community.  Thanks to the involvement of ACLB’s top-notch teaching artists as well as this year's community partner - the University Art Museum of California State University, Long Beach, local elementary students will have an opportunity to create a lifetime of memories.
