BULLETIN!
Yes, I have made my initial goal. But, keep in mind, there will be more that the insurance will not cover, so if you are in doubt, please continue to take part! Keep sharing!
Harry the unHappy Hernia and I
Artist...meet Hernia
Yes, Hello everyone. My name is Ken Meyer Jr. and I am an artist by trade. Myself, my wife and my two daughters live in Orange, California. Like most of you, the economy has affected how we live and what we can handle financially.
When the unexpected happened recently and I found out I had a hernia, we did not know what to do. Our new health plan has a 2500 deductible and the operation itself is 4000-6000. We just don't have it and have no way to get it. Hernias do not get better or go away...they just get worse and can come with very dire consequences. I felt stuck in a corner with no way out.
The perks for finding Harry a Happy Home
I cannot ask for charity, so I want to be able to give something back to those that are kind enough to help me. Being an artist, I can provide some pretty perks for you people! I have worked in comics, games, books, and much more, and have a wide variety of skills and styles that are hopefully in evidence in the perks available.
Some of the items available include sketch cards (with original sketches by me of a subject of your choosing), signed copies of my books (the best of my fantasy and horror art or my children's book), signed prints of my work, original work done specifically for you, and more. Below you can see a few samples of my work.

Below, you see a few samples of the sketchcards (but you can have anything done on them)

I hope to reach my goal and frankly, to go beyond. The deductible is only the lion's share, the health insurance will only cover a portion of the operation after that big deductible. But, whatever I am lucky enough to receive will go to that first big bill...anything more will to to the rest of the costs. If by some miracle, I go beyond even that, well, my oldest daughter needs her knee repaired...but I will cross that soccer field when I come to it.
It works, it really does!
A friend pointed out Indiegogo to me as a solution for my problem, but I should have thought of myself. I ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing of my book that I mentioned earlier. Also, I have faith in the generosity of people, what can I say.
I would like to be able to run again. I would like to be able to play tennis again. I would like to be able to pick up my youngest daughter again. And I would like to be around to see that youngest daughter go to college.
Getting the word out is important too!
Either in addition to taking part financially in this campaign or not, I ask you to share it with others I might not reach myself. Facebook, twitter, and other avenues an old dude like me might not know about...anything will help! If you know comic book fans, Magic the Gathering Fans, zombie fans, music fans...all of these people have interests that I might already be a part of or could be a part of. Use the Indiegogo share tools and make it easy on yourself!
Lastly, thanks for reading and spending your valuable time here. I sincerely appreciate it!
