THE HARDEST FIGHT IS FINDING OUT WHO YOU ARE. That is the tagline of the film. Fundamentally it's about the sexual discovery of a young lesbian girl set against the backdrop of revenge and violence.
After her sister Stacey is left brain damaged in a fight with rival firm leader Lulu Devine, 16 year old Beki Knight joins Stacey's old firm 'The Warriors', with revenge on her mind and her fighting ability soon outshines their leader Trixie. Her prowess attracts the attentions of Karen, but confused by her sexuality, Beki rejects Karen's advances.
Trixie, jealous at Beki's new found status, takes Karen for herself and during the much anticipated fight with Lulu's firm leaves Beki behind to the mercy of their rivals. Barely getting out alive Beki turns to Karen for advice and support and the pair spend the night together. But in order to have Karen for herself Beki must challenge Trixie for leadership of 'The Warriors'. Beki soon learns that her revenge will have repercussions for everyone.
I’m a writer/producer/director of 39 short films, some of which have won awards at various film festivals. Most of them have been self funded, but there are only so many short films you can make before you need to step up to making a feature film. That is what I’m trying to do with ‘Hard’. But it is notoriously difficult to find anyone to back you as a first time feature film maker simply because you don’t have the track record, especially in the eyes of investors, sales agents and distributors who are unwilling to take a chance. So this is why Indiegogo is such a great place to raise funds for this project and it also gives ordinary people who would never have this opportunity to help get a film made and be part of that process.
You can make this happen. Just think, when you see this on the screen at your local cinema or watching it on DVD or via download, the pride you will feel when you know you helped bring this project to life. You will be part of cinema history, and if you claim one of our Executive Producers perks you will also see your name amongst the credits with all the other crew and cast. Just think how jealous your friends and family will be.
What We Need & What You Get
So how much are we hoping to raise? We’ve included the full budget here - £200k. I know it’s a tall order to raise that amount on Indiegogo but we will also be approaching private investors and businesses alongside this campaign so it is not impossible.
What will the money be used for? Well . . . everything you need to make a film. Here are some examples you may not have considered if you are not familiar with the film making process.
There are expenses like, Legal fees for contracts, insurance, travel and accommodation, catering, location scouting, props sourcing and buying, costume designing, making or buying, scheduling, interviewing crew, auditioning actors, rehearsals with actors, planning the camera shots, hiring and organising equipment and facilities and transport and set building, setting up and running a production office and lots of contracts and paperwork to draw up, video editing, sound editing and mixing, sourcing music, composing music, buying of popular songs, foley work, colour grading, transferring the finished film to various format components for distribution, advertising material, advertising campaigns. The list goes on.
If we do not reach our goal on Indiegogo, what is raised will still go towards the film, only it might take longer to reach the goal. If we do not reach the target £200k we may scale down the production and shoot it for less, but that means compromising and may not make as good a film as we intend.
We are also offering lots of great perks which are waiting to be claimed including days on set, shadowing the director, auditions for speaking roles, extras roles, signed copies of the script and personal messages from the director. See below for more details on how to claim a perk.

Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can’t contribute and that’s alright. It doesn’t mean they can’t help. You can help enormously by spreading the word about this campaign and film on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites by linking friends and family to this campaign. It’s easy and only takes a moment to do and you’d be helping in your small but no less important way.
Thank you from the ‘Hard’ production team and all at S.H.A.M. Films.
And that’s all there is to it.
