As I write this, we have 118 funders who have contributed to our Indiegogo campaign for helping moms in Haiti. What an awesome group of people! As we near the end of our campaign (55 hours left!), I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with thankfulness for everyone who has played a role in the Haiti Babi journey thus far. It really is incredible.

I am excited because as I look through the list of funders, many of you are people who I know and love, and I am so thrilled that you have chosen to be a part of this. I am equally excited to look through the list of funders, and see people that I don’t know! I like thinking about how you may have heard about Haiti Babi, and why you were inspired to give. Many of you have given because you know me, or you know Kari, or you know one of our incredible Board members or fantastic volunteers. Some of you gave because you know one of our Moms in Haiti, and you know first-hand what a difference this job is making in their life. Gosh- how cool is that?! And I do hope, that some of you gave just because you want a beautiful Haiti Babi blanket! And, trust me, they are beautiful, and you will love them ☺

Thank you all for being a part of this journey. The people who have joined this campaign are now a part of the history of Haiti Babi, and the dollars you have contributed are making a direct, real, and sustainable difference in the lives of some pretty awesome women and their children in Haiti.

I just spoke with our team in Haiti today. And I can assure you, the needs of these families are very severe, and very real, and more than most of us can imagine. But, I can also promise you that the love, support, empowerment, and hope that they are getting from working with, and earning a paycheck from, Haiti Babi is making a truly life-changing difference for them and their families. Seeing a mom, a woman, with a feeling of deep pride in herself because she has earned the means to take care of her children – wow – I wish I could bottle that up and give it to you all so you could feel what a difference your dollars make.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the next 55 hours of this campaign will bring, not just the dollars but the people behind them. Please spread the word to anyone you know who you think would like to be a part of this story.

Plus, if we hit $17,000 then Kari wins our bet. I do hate to lose, but this one I could be okay with ☺

You all are incredible. All of us on the Haiti Babi team are so thankful for your support! We are overwhelmed by the awesome community that is coming together around this effort. We want you to know that every dollar truly makes a difference.

Here’s what your giving can do:
- $15 buys lunch at Haiti Babi for a Mom for a month,
- $40 gets a Mom an eye exam and glasses, if needed, Something we offer all Haiti Babi moms when they start work.

The big gives help too!
- $500 allows us to hire a new Mom, knowing we can offer her sustained employment,
- $600 will buy a new knitting machine, so we can have more moms making more blankets,
- $5000 pays for the Haiti Babi house in Haiti for a year!

We’ve come a long way with this campaign, but let’s not stop here, let’s see how far we can go! The more money we raise, the more moms we can hire, and the more lives we can change.

Wow! We are over 50% funded in our first few days. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was thinking this morning about Peterley. Peterley is the son of Florene, a Haiti Babi Mom. He is 15 and one very cool kid. He is super sharp, curious, and loves his mom with all of his heart. He wrote me a letter (he is learning English in school) and told me how happy he is that his mom works at Haiti Babi. So I was imagining this morning the big smile on Peterley’s face if he knew that 36 people that he doesn’t even know were supporting his mom and rooting for her success at Haiti Babi. I think he would be elated!

So a huge thank you to all those who have given. And please help us to keep spreading the story of Haiti Babi and our Moms! Lets see how far we can go!

This is for Peterley, Floron, Wilfour, Dafda, Wilda, Wyclef, Wenji, Baby Love, Guerlin, Guerdline, and all of the children of our future Haiti Babi moms. They would be excited to know how many people out there are supporting their moms!!
