to help an artist
see their project come to life
is a special gift
Some time ago, deep in my heart, I came upon a wellspring of Haiku. There were times when couldn't get them on to the paper before another one came. There is nothing conventional about these Haiku (aside from the 5, 7, 5) but each holds a valuable piece of wisdom gleaned from my
life of wonder and fulfillment.
I sat on them for some time, not sure how to share them with others.
A book? That didn't really feel right.
Then it came...
Of course!!! A deck of inspirational cards.
Writing the haiku was the easy part. Then there was choosing which to include. I was so
connected to each one that it wasn't easy to just pick fifty or so. Manhandling Indesign and Illustrator took months, and quite a bit of blood, sweat, and tears... But I did it!
I have compiled the haiku. Completed the artwork, layout and set-up of a deck of cards fifty+ in all. They are ready for print. Like so many projects- they are waiting for the finances for
production to materialize.
That's where you come in...
I realized that although it felt good to do it all by myself; it was time to really open up to others
and allow support. One of the bravest things one can do is ask for help. And a wonderful way to
offer an opportunity to be of assistance. Now it's time to bring these babies to print!
what I give to you
comes back to me in my heart
and so I give more
little bit better than they did before they came, then I gain from that experience as well. It is a sharing, and hopefully a receiving that benefits everyone involved. I look forward to the
opportunity to turn the wheels in a few more minds... maybe start up a few conversations.
I hope to see these cards inspire may people to look inside for more questions. It's the only way
to find the answers.
how bout we call it
the new way to start a biz
pre-sale with some perks
at wholesale cost.
When it comes to printing, the more you print, the cheaper the cost. Only thing is, the more you
print, the more you have to outlay. So even though it is less per piece, one has to buy more
Thus the costly upstart costs of self publishing.
I have found my printer, and I am Excited!
Where is the money from this campaign going? What happens if I do not reach my goal, you ask?
Below is the breakdown including boxing, shrink wrapping each deck and shipping to me (I will cover all shipping costs to fulfill any perk you claim) :
- When I reach my goal ($8,500) I print 2500 decks at a cost that allows me to wholesale a fair and reasonable price (half of the wholesale rate while creating the capital to promote the deck and perhaps print a second run.
- If I reach only part of my goal I will print as many decks as I am able to do so with the funds raised.
Whether or not my goal is reached, I will honor every perk claimed.
I have every intention of publishing Haiku for Thought, it is just a matter of when in 2012 that is.
Everyone who contributes to this campaign will see their fruition, and I can't wait to fulfill!!
THERE ARE lots of PERKS!!!!
and what kind of perks you ask?
just scroll down my friend
- The opportunity to purchase decks in the pre-sale at a lower than retail rate
- Your own personal haiku delivered to your inbox
- A personal reading from the deck by me (Rachel Marco-Havens) in person or via skype, depending on location
- Merit: help an aspiring writer to see her art come to print!
