Grassland takes an in depth look at the medical marijuana industry in Colorado. Through compelling interviews with patients, doctors, dispensary owners and prominent public officials and law enforcement, Grassland tells the incredible story of the re-emergence of Cannabis as a medical alternative in the United States. The film gives the viewer a first hand account of what it is like for those who live in states with laws like this. Over two years in the making. A brand new update to a very old issue- Cannabis and it's presence in America.
This issue is passionately debated all over the country, and all over the world. Those who are chronically ill feel strongly that it is their right to choose the best medicine for them. Doctors feel they should have the right to recommend Cannabis as a treatment for their patients. Many feel that not doing so is in violation of their sworn Hippocratic oath to provide the best medicine possible for patients. Legislators scramble to create new laws to govern the Amendment and the resulting industry. Many of the stories in this film are exclusive and won't be seen anywhere else. The impact of this film is huge for anyone who is suffering, or has loved ones who suffer from diseases like MS, HIV and Cancer. It also illustrates the heated debate among those who feel that Marijuana is still a drug, and has no place in society.
What We Need & What You Get
So far, this entire documentary has been funded solely by myself, the filmmaker. I have used my professional credentials to secure compelling interviews with many of the key players in this issue. I invested in my own equipment to film the bulk of the project over the last two years, which is done. But now the expensive post process is underway. Funding will be used for clearance rights for additional footage, music and graphics to help make the story that much better. Also, publicizing the film and submissions to festivals around the country, and around the world. Until now I have undertaken this project completely on my own, but my personal resources are now used up and I am seeking funding to give the film the best presentation and exposure possible. Contributions of over $100 will be given a special thanks in the film's credits, and a copy of the film once it is complete. Contributions of $500 or more will be given a producer credit on the film, and contributions of $1000 or more get executive producer credits. Since this film is near completion, the end result is inevitable. It's the additional funding that will determine how high of a quality the post process turns out to be. 15 States now have laws allowing for the legal medical cultivation, sale and consumption of Cannabis. It is an incredibly important topic, and one that is likely to continue to arise in all 50 states.
