It is official- the 70’s sitcom Good Times is going to the Big Screen. Carlena J. Evans M.Ed, daughter of the late Michael Evans, co-creator of the Good Times brand, was able to secure a deal with Sony/Columbia Pictures to produce a blockbuster Good Times movie, where she is also an Executive Producer on the film. Sony Pictures and Scott Rubin will soon turn this trailblazing and widely beloved sitcom, still in syndication almost 40 years after its first airing, show that launched Black television into a feature film.
Carlena Evans, a steward of her father’s legacy, finds it important to create opportunities for unity in the beloved brand. As President of Kidsplosion Nation, a 501c3 multi-faceted youth entertainment company that is dedicated to providing quality, age appropriate entertainment for all ages, she will facilitate a ‘Good Times Family Reunion Tour’ (GTFRT). For the first time in the 34 years since the final season of Good Times ALL of the original cast of this epic show are uniting for a historic nationwide tour traveling to Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, Washington, DC, New York City, and Los Angeles, CA!
Outside of the cast and owners coming together, the true purpose of this tour is to bring our communities together with developmental resources in education, economics, and health that assist in potential long term growth and sustainability. With the cast in the forefront, we will be promoting awareness of the need for substantial and relative age appropriate entertainment in our communities. Each tour event is FREE and open to the public and are expecting 10,000 visitors.
